Every once in a while a fighter comes along with a different approach. Sometimes that manifests itself in a signature punch that’s unique to that fighter (although others may occasionally copycat it).

So let’s try to identify those and their originators (or at least the fighter they are most associated with):

Bolo punch: Kid Gavilan was known for the winding, whipping uppercut.

Smash: Razor Ruddock had the hybrid left hook/left uppercut that came at an odd angle.

Leaping hook: Floyd Patterson may have been anointed as ‘The Rabbit’ by Muhammad Ali, but he often hopped in with a lead left hook like a kangaroo.

That should get us started. What are some others?

I’ve never noticed this and not sure what you’re talking about.

    Can you elaborate?

Golovkin's skull compactor. Usually hitting the top of a guy's head is considered a bad thing but he seems to get away with it.

De La Hoya had a little of that hook, upper cut thing going.

Jack Dempseys “Jolt” as described in his championship fighting book- though in his day Nat once called him the best heart puncher he ever saw. I’d like to have seen his right to the heart.

A poster who trained at Still-man’s gym (spelling) named John Garfield once referred to Sugar Ray Robinsons left hook as a “hooker cut” or something. Anyways- he described the way Ray was taught to throw a hook as quite unique and something of a hybrid between uppercut and hook.

Bob Fitzsimmons shot to the "slats" is arguably both considered to be his signature punch and by some reports he was the originator of the punch, though I doubt the latter is true.

JCC’s left hook to the liver was a special punch, It looks like such a buster of a shot. Zarate when he developed his right hand- it looked nice and fat-though it wasn’t quite a laser like Arguello’s right.
Jack Johnson’s uppercut in the clinch always looked cool IMO-easily the most iconic “signature” punch to me.

Tyson right to the body, right to the head always sticks in my head.
    Floyd's sharp counter right.
Bhop lead right hand and hold, wasn't really a fully extended punch was a weird shot he use to close the gap on people.
Fraizer's left out of the crouch
    Titos left hook

Apparently the Kid saw a young cat pawing at a dangling small ball of cotton being held by the owner, and the cat would twist his paw at the last second before contact, that's what I have read.
    stay safe hombre.
