What training methods of boxers do you find, unique, stupid, useful or plain ridiculous? Stanley Ketchel not bathing during training and even leading up to the fight to give him an extra advantage during a fight. Marvin Hagler training away from family and friends. Chris Eubank not eating for a week while training to make weight. During training Ricky Hatton only takes supplements.
read an article with him saying, he takes alot of supplements, wouldnt suprise me as one of his coaches is a bodybuilding trainer. http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/krisgethin42.htm
Hagler training away from family and friends is quite common I think. Calzaghe certainly does it. His training methods are old school and seem to suit him.
What sort of advantage would he gain by doing that? His opponent retiring cuz he don't wanna be near the stinky man?
Yea, I have read this to, seriously doubt it though considering its always mentioned in the same bogus tyson training article.
Tommy Loughrin put this smelly grease in his hair for Primo Canera fight, you can see Canera trying to get his nose away from the smell in clinches. Roland La Starza was oddball, supposedly would not brush teeth leading up to a fight.
I know that Foreman and Ali both used to chop a lot of wood in training. Seemed to work well for them..
