UNIVERSAL CHAMPION This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected Hi my forum friend!! have a good day!! Im here tonight to ask you a favor!! Let me explain this maybe someones remember last year on China during the WBC Convention, that the WBC promotes a universal champion by calling all the organizations that have any respectability and have all our champions meet each other to get only one the universal champion. Every organization (WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO) can keep theirs as their world champion. I believe that this could be a tremendous advancement for TV, for promoters, and for the boxers but leave, at the same time, the authority to the boxing organizations to control their business. Well I believe this idea could be something absolute awesome!! Just need the right direction! The thing i need from you is your opinion, about how they need to handle this, how they will be schedule the title, who will fight for him, the rankings, the design of the belt , everything goes I will be making this on at least 10 forums, and then i will send the post and suggestion to the WBC i was talking with Mauricio Sulaiman about this and he want to read this!! So this is a excellent opportunity to everybody from the forum to have a voice and suggest about this idea Well thats all. Thanks for your time, and attention
I just recently read a statement from Suleiman that he actually opposes unification of course having a tournament of champions would be awesome. But there isn't always a champion for every belt in every weight class.
that would be a fight fans delight if that would happen. there would be less paper champions and having only one belt would actually mean something. but of course it won't, as their would be money lost from the other organizations that aren't part of the big 3, the wbc, wba, and ibf. awesome avatar javier :good
This topic always comes up, but the reality is in a few years time we'll be adding the IBO to the "prestigious" titles list as opposed to being closer to having 1 champ per division.
They're all jokes, that's the problem. Not one of the abc bodies can justify their rankings in any of their 17 divisions. Stupid undeserving mandatories get made and fighters are unfairly stripped of their titles. Ridiculous, illogical and corrupt carry-on altogether.
we all now the problem, with the unification bout, that they got stripped the titles, but what do you think could be a solution??
To be honest I don't think you're looking at the problem the in the right way. These alphabet orgs are not going to cooperate in that way. Say for instance that you in fact get your unified champion, as soon as he has to defend against a Don King promoted fighter and doesn't want to sell a piece of himself to King, there goes his wba title and now you're back to having two champions. Next the wbo give him someone nobody's ever heard of as a mandatory, HBO won't televise the fight so it doesn't go ahead, he fights someone else, is stripped, now you've got three champions. IMO the only solution to the problem is to reduce the number of titles, not to find novel ways to unify them. The only way I can see this happening is if the NYSAC and the NVSAC only regognise one title and agree which one it is. I think that would pretty much sort the problem out in the US and everybody else would fall into line. The wba has made itself a joke, the wbo was a joke to start with and still is, the ibf and wbc are ok in my book. So choose one of them.
Or someone like GBP starts on a campaign to get the best boxers/trainers on their team and start selling it to the public by putting up big money and lots of advertising like the UFC, and maybe over a few years enough good boxers move over and the public starts to ignore the alphabet organizations to watch "exciting" boxing where The Ring belt is considered the best out there. It's a pipe dream, but the only one I can think of.
this could be a good solution maybe if the organizations talk with the tv's to promote the tournaments
