I've heard it said a bunch of times BJ Penn doesn't look like a fighter, but I disagree. Maybe it's because I'm so used to that scowl, but he looks like a fighter to me, albeit not as well built.
Nice callout Nesville, but one has to ask what value is there is to this thread in being UFC specific This content is protected
TBH honest IDK...ask Haggis...he made the thread specifying UFC fighter... If I was dishonest person, I would say Haggis think the sport is called UFCnut
Well the reality is that PRIDE folded for good half a decade ago, and most MMA fans didn't watch the sport when PRIDE was going strong. I thought about its biggest name fighters and with the exception of Fedor, they all look like really tough guys. So I didn't want half the thread to be about random dudes who haven't fought in years and who you need to be a hardcore PRIDE geek to remember. I wanted active or recently retired guys who compete in the big tent in the West. For convenience, I put "UFC" in the title because that is the organization that is the most high-profile by far, and therefore generates fighters that almost everyone will know. :good :hat
....I'm not really sure to understand why you yet bring PRIDE again in all of this, it's not like in the history of MMA there were only 2 org... I understand why you put "UFC" though...and I guess all Japanese people look alike for us...:good
Its a cliche to say fedor but thats only cause hes fat. seriously look at the guy, hes ****ing intimidating. if he was standing on the door of some russian nightclub or pub somewhere you would NOT **** with him.
Well, I thought about Strikeforce as well, but to be honest, once you get past a small handful of their guys, their roster starts looking pretty anonymous pretty quickly. And I just wanted to include the fighters who are most visible and most likely to have had any aspect of their personalities showcased through TUF or whatever. After all, some guys are really quiet and soft-spoken and don't seem like dominant macho types at all. :good Well, that's not what I was meaning, but I see how it could have come off as partly sounding like that. atsch :hat
That's true, he doesn't look like a pro fighter as such because he always looks like some out-of-shape middle-aged guy (even when he was 25 ). But he has that stone cold "I'll cut you up and sleep like a baby" look about him for sure. For me, BJ Penn has a similar sort of vibe. He looks like a ****ing pit bull, he has a stare that just screams "I back myself to destroy anyone, just give me an excuse to fight you." :hat
Are you trying to say that you have the balls to go at Alvarez from a sitting position? :huh This content is protected
Good point, most people at 230 could soil the pantaloons of most people, well, most people This content is protected
