Come on man, you can't claim that this Gonzalez guy is in shape in the video. There was nothing productive about what they were doing in the video, regardless of where Kirkland is in the training camp.

In the fight, sure destroy your opponent. But sparring isn't a fight, it's time to get ready for a fight by improving different aspects of your game. Trying to fight in sparring is not conducive to improving. That's why you hear stories of gym warriors beating up on world level names in sparring, yet the gym warriors were never more than journeymen in their career.

 

What are you talking about, I saw a boy getting emotional and over excited in that video.
If he was as cold as ice he would be calm, composed and thinking in the ring. Kirkland reminded me of a schoolyard kid in a playground fight, all excited and puffed out trying to get the other kid to fight.

Good take bro......I saw some improvement as well. And the criticism being thrown at him in this thread is unwarranted. He's doing what he's supposed to be doing....which in this vid is offensive sparring. I'm sure he uses a faster smaller fighter for defensive sparring, but here he is using a bigger man so he can work on his countering, and offensive flow. Looked good to me.
Maybe we could get some "leaked" video of his doing D sparring or "all out" sparring. What I saw in the vid was O sparring mixed with some CPing. And what I saw looked good. The power is there, the speed as well, but he didnt appear to be working on his D in the vid....so we saw him hit except when looking to counter.
Perfect session if you asked me. Working over a bigger man is exactly how a smaller guy adds to his offensive arsenal.

I'm not picking a winner in this fight....I'm betting on the under, b/c someone is getting KOd, and I'm HOPING it aint JK.:good

 

Why can't I say he is in good shape? He has a fight coming up as well as James. If anything when this was recorded they should have been in the same shape.

The difference is James beat the will to fight out of the guy and again that is saying something because dude was most likely over 200 pounds and James put the hurt on him.

I get that he doesn't take a punch but whats disgraceful about it ? At least he is exciting and has the balls to fight.

 

Taking punches and giving them back= Exciting and ballsy

Getting punched by feather fisted fraud and getting flattened= Disgrace
