I wouldn't consider Jackson knocking Graham out cold to be lucky. He was a power puncher, Graham was a Boxer, the only way Jackson was going to win was with a knockout blow. They threw punches at the same time, Jackson's got there first and that was all she wrote. If it didn't happen when it did, it probably would have happened later on in the fight. Graham out-boxing a man easily, he gets over confident, he opens up, he gets hit.

That's not without merit jersey joe, but he didn't get his first title shot until about 11 years into his career, and was basically frozen out of contender level junior middle/middle matchmaking until he signed with Barney Eastwood near the end of the Hagler era.I'm no big Graham supporter, but i'd tend to agree he was somewhat unfortunate for a variety of reasons.

I mean put truly great fighters like a Napoles etc into those circumstances and they will overcome, but a guy like say...Trinidad or Mosley who many think IS great, would probably sink like a stone.

Howard Davis jr. and jimmy young. Both were highly skilled boxers that that had bad luck in the ring.
