Unpopular opinion but this fight showed that Canelo still struggles with slick movers

Yup, Bivol would be my "best bet" to beat Canelo at the moment. Not sure Benavidez will be able to make 168 again, think he would deffo be competetive too and at least has the power to get Canelo's respect.

Bivol's judging of distance is brilliant and he took Joe Smith Jnrs best too - only worry with Bivol would be the body shots, and of course whether or not he would get a decision.

 

That's what's actually kind of exciting about Canelo at these weights. at 154 and 160 he was a lock for winning most of his fights. 168 and 175 were kind of game changers for me. I knew he had better skills, but he's still vulnerable as the smaller man who is fighting an aggressive counter puncher style. If he was fighting slick I could kind of understand it. Him coming at his opponents makes it pretty interesting.

 

Pretty much everyone struggles with slick moves, especially lefties. By comparison, I would say Alvarez is pretty effective. Still, his heavy feet are something that can be taken advantage of. Who nowadays could exploit it any better than Saunders, however? Andrade, Plant, Ryder...

 

I'll give Bivol the benefit of the doubt against Richards and say it was ring rust.
