Unpopular Opinion: Foreman would have KO'ed Ali if he kept the pace he did in the 1st round

Ali used a lot of unusual & under-handed veteran tactics against Foreman to get the win. Somethings were normal (pulling behind the head) & others we'd never seen before (laying on the ropes for the majority of a fight, being flat-footed as early as the 2nd, letting Foreman pound a way relentlessly). These tactics all resulted in Ali getting the win, but boy were they unusual. Now, after watching the 1st round, after Ali had success for the first 90 secs, Foreman started to catch up with him - as he successfully cut off the ring & nailed Ali with some good shots. Ali didn't end the round strong like he usually did (although he fought very well overall) & had to regroup & come up with another plan. This was mainly because Foreman cut off the ring effectively (Ali stated he had to move 3 steps to Foreman's 1) & he knew he'd get tired quickly & that Foreman could then nail him with something big.

So my conclusion is that Ali was very smart in changing his strategy as early as the 2nd, because it could have resulted in a different outcome that night...

Like I have posted before, I have seen Muhammad Ali fight as far back as 1965, in his comeback in Oct 1970 after his 43 month banishment, he was not the same as he was in 1967, he got hit more, his legs and stamina were long gone, he started laying on the ropes, it should be noted that his timing and reflexes were also gone. Against George Foreman in 1974, he could no longer sustain his mobility and footwork, they were also gone, so he had to be resourceful by inventing another tactic he called Rope A Dope. Ali realized that George was dangerous the first 5 rounds, to compensate for his legs being long gone, he used the ropes to tire a lack of stamina George Foreman before moving in for the kill in round 8.

What? C'mon. Ali dominated that first round. About Ali getting tired from Foremans footwork... Because Foreman wouldn't gas first? he didn't exactly show us much of anything in that first round.

I am not but when an ignorant person continues to harass another poster to make himself look better, the harassed poster has a right to defend himself against attention seeking ignorance. At least I am not trying to kiss behind like that certain ignorant poster is.

I was referring to Journeyman92, who is in no position to criticize someone else's maturity.

I agree. A very sad individual looking for attention. He claims to be in his late 20s, but their's a far greater likelihood that he's a teenager.
