Unpopular Opinion: Foreman would have KO'ed Ali if he kept the pace he did in the 1st round

If you want to talk about Ali and Foreman then how about you start a relevant thread mate and in the future try to stay on topic.

Me pulling up examples of you being a pompous ass, and people telling you exactly how they feel about you, are not insults. They're indisputable facts.

God you’re a sad case it’s gone beyond the point of amusing. I have decided to wash my hands of you.

Well, I entered this one assuming that's what it was. My first post was on topic -- asking about the interpretation of the fight itself, trying to nudge things back onto the tracks. My second post was still about Ali, albeit musing about the reasons for one of Ali's less focused performances in his second career. That one was somewhat relevant to how much he can he seen to have deteriorated by 74, since it was comparing pre- and post-exile Ali.

EDIT: Unless your post was tongue in cheek, in which case, ha! My sarcasm detectors sometimes take a while. :xqw

If Ali had continued moving he might have eventually ran into something, like Norton did. But probably not as early, and the question is if Foreman has the finishing skills to get the stoppage. He might also do what he did against Young and run out of gas going for the finish.

Knowing what we know now, Ali just feels too tough and wily for Foreman to KO. Not that it isn't a possibility that it might happen, but I kind of have a hard time seeing it.

Of course it was tongue in cheek CT!!! I mean it is actually an Ali Foreman thread and you were semi subtly trying to get the thread back on track. I was going to finish with a laughing emoji but thought that might be an insult to your not inconsiderable intelligence.

We've shared the same forum for over a decade and a half with not a bad word between us. Quite the opposite in fact.

Never put too much faith in my intelligence, though it's certaintly appreciated.

I am, at root, a simple man of simple tastes: good company, free Ali fights on YouTube, and the occasional Valuev versus Jimmy Wilde with Brass Knuckles thread.

On that note, I doubt you'll be surprised to learn that I include you in the "good company" category. Happy Friday.

When it was silent for a while i thought hmmmmmm do i need to make light with another post? Nahhhh he's probably just logged off before seeing it.

In the current climate i probably should have

    Have a good weekend mate.

I've had a couple more contentious arguments, but it doesn't happen often. More in my early days than now. It usually takes following me around and insulting me for no reason that I can discern that gets me irritated. It's a high bar, but a few have managed. :cursing2:

Have a good weekend as well. :D

Ali said he wanted George to shoot his bolt while he was still fresh.

If George uses that sampe pace, patiently waiting and bombing instead of wailing away bombs,I think Ali could still have coke up with some tricks eventually.

Trying to play stand-up grappling with Ali is suicide.
