Unpopular Opinion, perhaps? But Shawn Porter beats a prime Mayweather

I can't see it happening. Mayweather was just on another level. His movement was far better than Brook's as well during his prime. His head and upper body movement is better than anyone Porter has fought, defensively he's better than Brook and anyone else Porter has fought.

Porter's strength and rough style will give Mayweather some issues on the inside but nothing he hasn't dealt with before. Porter comes in lower than Maidana though which means Mayweather will be able to lean down on him more, preventing Porter having as much success on the inside as Maidana does, who doesn't dip as low and keeps his head more at throat height when coming in. Look at how Brook uses his lead arm/hand to control Porters head, pushes down on it, pushes it past him to redirect Porter away from him like a matador. Mayweather does the same, only better.

With all due respect, that was a different one dimensional reckless Maidana walked in straight lines, that struggled with the likes of Ortiz and Khan. H

The maidana who beat the living daylights out of Broner and took Mayweather to the brink was a completely different animal who fought with far more intelligence and mixed up his attack by coming forward and attacking in different awkward angles.

That Maidana under Ricky Garcia would have taken out the likes of khan in a rematch, Brook, Thurman, Porter and Crawford.

Floyd is WAY too sharp and precise for Porter imho. Cant see Porter making it out of 6.

I don't think Floyd has ever fought a fighter as physically strong, tough and aggressive as Porter. If he had fought Margarito then yes I would have agreed with that statement.

Floyd isn't Brook or Thurman. He can't do what they do.

Mayweather would school Porter as he is a better puncher than Thurman and a better boxer than Brook with a boxing IQ, speed, skills and timing that Porter can’t deal with.

Shawn Porter closes distance to sloppy and off balance to ever
beat Floyd, and he get's sloppier as the fight goes on. It would
start out exciting and end in a rout.

True, but like I said the guy has absolute incredible aggression levels. Who's only been beaten solidly once and even that wasn't a comprehensive defeat. Until Floyd is outfitted with a pair of nukes in his gloves like Felix Trinidad for example, Porter is going to walk in, off balance or not. And he's going to throw a lot of punches. Being off balance never stopped Margarito from his assault on the WW division.

Mayweather a better puncher than Thurman at 147 pounds? You got to be joking. Floyd cannot do what they do. He can do what HE can do. But punch with the same type of destruction as them? Forget about it. And he's also slower than Thurman is as well. Just less athletic in general.

Doesn't matter how strong Porter is, technique can over come his strength. No way Mayweather or Maidana were as strong as Mosley, who could bench 350lbs and squat 500lbs. But when he fought Mayweather it was Mayweather backing him up and bossing the clinches. Mayweather controlled Shane's head position, got his elbow or head on his throat and was able to push him about on the inside because of this, Mayweather would do the same to Porter. Because not matter how strong you are, you are only as strong as your weakest link and Floyd knows where the head goes the body follows. Porter for all his physicality will get out smarted on the inside and not be able to make his strength count.

I guarantee you if any other fighter narrowly lost to a prime Brook. And was robbed against Thurman you guys wouldn't trash him. If anything you would rate him high. But since this forum is filled with a bunch of boxing hipsters that's not how it goes. Many fans here can only appreciate Jorge Linares, Juan Manuel Marquez, Tim Bradley types of fighters.

A hard nosed fighter who's a little technically lacking is a bum on this forum. Throw that elitist garbage attitude out of the window.
