Unpopular Opinion, perhaps? But Shawn Porter beats a prime Mayweather

Porter would win a few rds, maybe but Floyd's strength would surprise him on the inside and Shawn would be paying the price for coming in so recklessly.
    Floyd wins 9-3.

Yeah!? I woke up last night and thought Collazo was able to drop Khan so he could definitely beat Floyd. Sidenote I like Porter but every time it’s mattered he’s failed /shrug. He’s just a welter Gabe Rosada Lol. Always comes to fight but not quite that good

I'm not talking about 130/135/140 version of Mayweather. I'm specifically talking about the speed difference between the 147 version of Floyd against Keith Thurman. While Thurman may not be a great fighter he is fast and athletic. More so than Floyd was at 147.

Nah I disagree. Thurman is a good athlete but no version of Thurman has faster hands or better reflexes than a prime PBF at 147.

Shawn Porter is borderline elite. Gabe Rosado is not even close.

As for Thurman, he's no PBF, we all know that.

Agreed. I think people need to consult the (high-res, no cherry picking lower quality stuff to prove a point here) video for a refresher on what the 'prime' welter PBF looked like. I think people are just remembering his last few outings (which, remember, were spread over several years with long gaps of inactivity) and going by that for their mental comparisons of speed. Thurman is faster than both the McGregor and Berto versions of Mayweather, yes (and maybe even a few back prior, ie Pac and both Maidanas) - or hell, you could even say they're in the same ballpark stretching it to encompass all the "off and on" versions of Mayweather (that is, his non-contiguous pro career, everything after his initial fake retirement in 2007) but the PBF of The World Awaits? Hatton? Judah? Psssh, 1-Time isn't 30% as fast at that dude.

Shawn Porter is basically a younger lighter hitting Marcos Maidana.

Lighter-hitting but also faster. And better chin.

@CST80 look at the amount of Showtime praising I'm capable of! I'm practically sucking the guy off at this point. o_O So let's have no more of this "IB can't be objective when it comes to Porter" biz.

    Right on the money.
And i would like to add that Maidana was the more skilled fighter.

Maidana baited Floyds counter and countered it himself. When has Porter ever shown such high level skills?

LOL I had no idea you were that bored/turned off/uninspired by Porter's style. Is he your least favorite "youngish" fighter?

It's been proven time and again, Floyd hits hard enough to keep everyone honest. Porter is aggressive but is nowhere near skillfully aggressive as a Castillo for instance or even a margarito. He'll have the distinct disadvantage of being picked apart as he comes in and once again once he's inside. He's just too sloppy
