Unpopular opinion. Smith vs Ryder was not a clear Ryder win.

Awful scorecards yes, but Smith had done enough to scrape it 7-5, I had it as a draw personally but I can see it going that way as there were a good few close rounds. I thought Ryder won 7-5 or 8-4 initially and that it was a total robbery but I think I was wrong after watching it a second time. The underdog effect got to me and I like Ryder so I was just pleasantly surprised honestly. The scorecards deserve major scrutiny but I don't think it was a bad result now upon another viewing in more sober circumstances.

Anyone that had Smith winning should stop watching boxing.

Yeah that's your armchair fan opinion so I don't give a ****. I had it a draw but you can easily give Smith a win too.

By the way I actually box and know its history very well so if you don't like my opinion you can but you have no grounds to say I don't know what I'm talking about.

It was very close, there's too much rage here. The shite scorecards got to people's heads and it's now the umpteenth time I've seen them give the underdog more than a fair shake in calling scores on here. Sure some had Wallin beating Fury 8-4 and the like. Sorry but even though I dislike Fury's shite talking and nonsense no that didn't happen.

I wholeheartedly disagree. I genuinely can't see how you can possible give it to Smith without looking for reasons to give it to Smith. He was bullied and had no answers for Ryder's pressure.

I don't like Smith that much but he genuinely outlanded Ryder with clean and effective work just as much as he was hit by Ryder for many stretches in the fight. It was back and forth as hell, being pushed onto the backfoot doesn't mean you lost. Ryder was always going to be pressuring him. Smith tied him up when he got on the inside a lot in later rounds and negated his work. I've now seen the fight twice, the first time it was Ryder, the second time a draw. Ryder did push him back easily but that's not winning a boxing fight.

Smith also kept his distance and landed from that position often. He caught Ryder coming in a good few times with his lead uppercut later on and as I said he did have an answer for Ryder's pressure later on by tying him up except for the last two round which he lost resoundingly as Ryder stepped it up.

Sounds to me like you're giving Smith far too much credit based on a style bias there. Ryder was pushing him back, forcing his way out of the clinches and then punishing with good body work. Ineffective jabs and huggy bear tactics don't win rounds over the kind of work Ryder was putting in.

I'm not talking about that, he was still hitting Ryder with straight rights, uppercuts, lead left hooks and a lot of body shots too. It was back and forth. You're diminishing Smith's work because of your possible style bias and favouring the underdog like I did myself the first time around. Watch it a second time and score it round by round, I went purely off of clean and solid punches landed. I thought Smith fought with an amorphous style, he was certainly having an off day by his standards but he definitely did enough to get the nod but I thought it was a draw as Ryder got to do as he pleased in a lot of rounds too. Overall Ryder did more damage but I scored it round by round properly the second time with a need to sort out how much of a robbery this was and then I realised I got this one wrong.

I've gone through it again and still have no idea how you feel the above to be an accurate reflection of what actually occurred.

This isn't comparable and by trying to do so it smacks of trying too hard to look knowledgeable and 'go against the grain' - another trait a number of posters on here seem to revel in.

    Wallin Fury indeed.

2 lads at work had Smith winning, personally I couldn’t and still don’t see it.

Ryder was the better man that night.

No offence intended but many people play sports but are still clueless. Football is a great example.
