Unpopular opinion. Smith vs Ryder was not a clear Ryder win.

But you call out the ridiculous scorecards yourself? Then wouldn’t you agree that Smith, before the fight even began, had a bunch of rounds in the bag from generous scoring? This fight wasn’t even that close imo, although Smith did win a few rounds. But when you see all three judges rule in the favor of Smith, and one even scoring it 117-111, then you KNOW something is not right.

It’s like Golovkin-Canelo I really. That fight was competitive, and could warrant close cards. I had Golovkin winning pretty clear, but a draw with maybe 115-113 to each guy and 114-114 on the third card could be explained by bad scoring, home crowd swaying the judges etc. But then you see 118-110 and, as with Smith-Ryder, you KNOW a robbery took place.

He didnt win the round not a hope in hell. It was a feeling out round with smith landing a few jabs and the odd backhand. Andy gave Ryder 2 of the first 3 rounds and it was complete madness

You don't know anything about boxing, that's not my "opinion" just facts. I picked Smith to destroy Ryder prior to the fight. I've been a vocal Smith supporter for years @CST80 can back me up on this. I picked him to beat Groves, and picked him over Plant who I'm also an avid supporter of and Benavidez. Also the fact that CST picked Ryder to beat Smith makes me extremely hesitant to give Ryder close rounds since I hate giving him credit for picking upsets. But if you thought Smith had a case for 7-5, seriously **** off, you're what's wrong with boxing fans.

True to an extent, but for me if you are pressing the opponent back and bullying him into giving ground when he doesn't want to, this falls under the effective aggression and ring generalship criteria.

i watched it on youtube because i wanted to see this robbery in progress. That was 30 minutes that i will never get back. Ryder did ok for a little short boxer, but i think it was a very tentative back and forth challenge and not anything like a robbery. unless Ryder is your brother or son or you are his mum. Then yeah it was a robbery lol

I think the scorecards were awful but the result was meh. Still thought it was a draw though.

Thank you, he did very well all things considered but he didn't take over the fight clearly.

Ha you're pathetic, I said it was a draw for me with there being lots of close rounds. That is very true and you can't change the truth. I know boxing a hell of a lot better than you do almost certainly so I'd shut the hell up if I were you. Ryder did not dominate the rounds by any stretch of the imagination until the last two. Deal with it. I'm not even a Smith fan, I much prefer Ryder.

They take a back seat to clean punching. Callum wasn't perfect, but he had a case for winning. The scores were unreasonably wide though. (I had it a draw.)

I tend to agree but that's not set out in the rules anywhere, which is the problem. I will maybe watch it again when I get chance, but my impression was I'd struggle not to give the fight to Ryder and I had no preference for a winner.

You literally know jack **** about boxing. I forgot more boxing taking a **** this morning than you'll ever know. Smith was missing all day at long range, and Ryder was outworking him by far. If you thought it was a draw, find another sport, boxing isn't for you.

I don't know much about these two. Never heard of them to be honest. So I am not bias like someone. Ryder won that fight he had an answer for Smith. No where in the round did Smith assert any dominance. In fact it was the smaller fighter backing him up and lading cleaner shots and making the taller lanky foe bleed and held on a lot in the contest. One stage he even wobbled the big for nothing Smith.

Sorry, no way Smith got a draw or win. Unless you are bias and a huge fan of his. Simples!

Absolutely agree. I too had it a draw. To me this is a close fight, with lots of very close rounds that could have It is good that there are others who see this and are not swayed by all this "robbery" hysteria around this fight.

Most of the rights from Smith was being caught on Ryder's glove and his jab was being consistently parried. There's a reason why Ryder's face barely had a scratch on it when in with a much bigger puncher than he. Smith looked like he'd been through WW3. You ought to re-watch it. Your card was the clear outlier.

Smith did not land at all. It was weird, I hate to admit it, but during the fight, I started to remember what you told me earlier that day about Smith only having a 1, 2 and the occasional hook. Ryder took his jab and straight away, AND overpowered him, it was just a really weird fight to watch.
