Unpopular opinion. Smith vs Ryder was not a clear Ryder win.

Aside from maybe a few body shots, he barely touched him. Smith like I said the other day is rudimentary as hell. He's got a similar ring IQ to his brothers, only he has the benefit of being huge with a big punch, that's about the only difference. Ryder is next level in terms of skill set, he's the only guy I've ever seen come close to beating Billy Joe Saunders, that's about the only Saunders match that could genuinely go either way. The Blackwell loss was an anomaly, there's a reason he moved up to super middleweight not long after. Every other loss on his record is egregious. The Arnfield loss was so bad even the commentators were shocked and saying he got screwed, the Fielding match didn't look all that dissimilar from the Smith match. It's such a pity the Chris Eubank Jr match didn't go through, Ryder would have destroyed him.

I actually think Liam is more skilled than Callum. Callum is just physically way stronger, hits harder, and is probably more durable.
Oh, and I take back my Saunders/Smith prediction. If Saunders shows up, he takes that fight.

Yeah, the Blackwell fight was the reason why I thought Smith would destroy him. I doubt anyone is going to want to fight Ryder now. Dude is a tough fight for everyone at 168.

The Saunders from the Lemieux match, he doesn't win a second of the fight against. Billy Joe needs to strike while the iron is hot. That would raise his profile for a Canelo match. After he schools the ginger, he can put a fork in GGG. And then retire a Gypsy living legend.:deal:

Ryder is a handful for everyone at 168, including Benavidez. He's a good enough counter-puncher and heavy-handed enough that it will make anyone cautious and get them thinking twice, meanwhile John goes to work and starts plugging away, and before they know it he's completely in control.

Billy Joe is his own worst enemy, he will never meet his potential. To busy being Billy...next thing you know his prime has passed by. Of course he could go back to PEDS.

How fighters look after a fight doesn't always line up with who won. I watched this fight live and it was characterized by many close rounds that could have been scored either way. It is this plethora of close rounds that account for differing scores.

Yeah, I know, I usually use that defense myself. But it is extra pertinent here, because it backs up my argument, that Ryder's defense was so on point, he barely got touched. Like I said, go back and watch how tight it was, much of what was landing to landing on the gloves.

Boxing is definitely for me seeing as I do it and it's my favourite sport. Something I watch every given opportunity I have. You're a **** talker. The fight was close and you're too caught up in your feelings to admit it. Smith did get plenty of work off at long range, Ryder just slipped a lot too but he still got caught often enough in enough rounds.

I'm not even remotely a fan, I don't like British fighters generally. Smith just outlanded Ryder in a load of rounds and Ryder fought in bursts that didn't sustain until the last two rounds. He just didn't take over the fight like has been suggested here. I'm not even close to biased so your opinion is incorrect in more ways than one.

He's thinking Ryder slipped and blocked everything because he did that plenty. CST is very prone to confirmation bias I've noticed. They accuse me of being biased for seeing it as a very close fight.

I'm sorry but he didn't have that tight a defense that he didn't let anything through. Lots of body shots, plenty of jabs did land although a lot more missed and he did get a good few straights on target Especially those lead uppercuts, he started getting caught by those easily as the fight progressed. I thought Ryder fought very well and if I were to give the nod to anyone it'd be him but nevertheless it was a very close fight.

I'm probably exaggerating here but I don't care, Ryder's defence was a masterclass imo. One of the best defensive displays I've seen in a while off the top of my head. Smith couldn't get his jab going at all as well has his straight right as Ryder slipped and parried beautifully all night. Smith couldn't set himself as a result.

Maybe a domestic level defensive masterclass. Canelo looked like Willie Pep in comparison.

Someone needs to make a HL video of Ryder's defensive skills because he is undoubtedly the slickest gorilla on the planet. To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised to find out he had some gypsy blood in him.

I did enjoy watching him smash up that Clenelo sparring partner Akkaway kid who word on the street is had been beating the living **** out of the ginger Clenbuterol toad in the gym.

Landed what? jabs that too was missing. OK, the kid landed a few and missed a tonne. You call landing on the gloves or blocked shots landing? As i recall he was missing badly that he was fading and was on the back foot.Because missing can take a toll on your gas reserves.

Ryder's burst landed that's what I saw, right on the money too. Clear as daylight! You ask me who was landing the more telling effective shots. RYDER BABY!!

Smith body shots were his best punch, maybe a few right hands. But they weren't lmaking a stamp on the fight. He missed too much and at this level, I can't give it to him.Being the bigger guy and all. He looked like the beaten fighter in there. I have to give it to the effective aggressive fighter. JOHN RYDER. Too slick.
