What kind of shape are you in right now? If you're already in pretty good shape, I'd say no, don't try it. If you're a little loose around the edges right now, 20 pounds in a month should be fine. The main question is; can you drop the weight without burning muscle?

Im def loose a little. Im only 5"7. The big questions is the muscle mass loss.

I run 3-4 miles every other day.

what is your record? what is your age? u say u only do it for the "thrill" and not the money, but how much better would the payoff (thrill) be if u trained hard, made weight, administered a beating, and at the end of the night walked away with a FULL paycheck? I say go full out 'balls to the wall', that is, if u want to be considered a 'legit' fighter in the 154 division. and another thing, if u plan on being an active fighter, be mindful of your weight and the fact that u could get a call at any given time.

How do you think you would do against an Ossie Duran level fighter? If you think you could handle that level by next year, you should quit fiddle-****ing around, and go for broke. I'm 53 years old, and I was a decent local amatuer years ago. I never-ever took boxing seriously. Today that is one of the few regrets I have.

 Bernard Hopkins and Juan Marquez were 0-1 at one time too.

But to the TS, I say go for it and if you cant make weight at the weigh in then let them take 50% of your purse being that the money ain't all that good anyway.

easy enough to do. I walked around at 180 and my fighting weight was 154. 4 weeks is way more than enough time needed to drop that weight, I could do it in 10 days.

I dont think people realize how little regional fighters make per fight.

We make **** for money. But my promoter really wants me to take it to the next level. I have a career (IT industry) and deciding between the 2 is really difficult. I work 9-5 Sunday-Thursday and I am a single father. But we started full sessions yesturday and I went 10 rounds really hard in sparring.
