Upcoming Significant Heavyweight Fights

It's dead division ... who gives a ****.

 

That's the cold hard truth.

 

Jennings will fight Chris Koval, which should hopefully be a tune-up fight for a bigger fight on Sep 21st. Jennings and Cunningham should just fight each other dammit.

 

Unless the Haye vs Vitali fight gets made. No one really cares.

 

Looks decent, I'll try to watch every single fight on that list.

 

Povetkin vs Rahman is pretty pathetic.

Everything has peaks and valleys. The HW division is in a valley right now. What will make the division good is to have many of the top ten where anything could happen in any fight. So the sooner the Klitschko's retire or get beat the better.
Rather you believe its a **** era, or the K's or just that dominant, it really doesn't matter, what will make the division exciting is a pretty equal playing field within the top ten.
I can see that shaping up over the next couple years. Right now there is many good fights to be made amongst contenders, there is basically no good fights to be made with the Champs, and really no reason for any contender to want to fight them.

 

Yeah it is pretty bad, but it's a mandy, and if Povetkin enied it, he would probably lose his mandy at Wlad, costing himself a load of cash. Plus just because Rhaman is undeserved of the mandy position doesn't mean the division is dead, just that the organizations are so corrupt.

 

You also forgot to put Hellenius in the mix for an upcoming fight. I believe the timetable for his return was expected for September-ish

Pulev vrs Ustinov Sep 29
Price vrs Harrison Oct 13

These three are worth getting excited about. Sort of. At least the results will mean something.

Price's victory is a forgone conclusion, but if he wins by a brutal KO likely) then perhaps this will catapult him into the public consciousness, and the networks will be interested in showing him more.

Banks is sloppy, but he's fast, aggressive, and he throws a ton of punches. He seems to have more power than his KO percentage would indicate. Reminds me a bit of Mago, but with better defense. I think he'll take out the overrated Mitchell. However, if Mitchell's skill and speed have improved, and he manages to beat Banks, that will really say something about Mitchell's future, so I'm VERY psyched to see this fight even though I'm currently not a Mitchell fan.

It sure would be great to See Helenius back & healthy. I'd also love to see Haye fight a real contender soon, but I'm not holding my breath. Other than those two, the HW division will remain basically in limbo until Price, Boytsov, Mitchell, and maybe Jennings reach the top ten and start fighting the current "top contenders."

Wlad will never fight these guys, (You think Manny Steward would ever let him in the ring with Price or Wilder?) so he should just retire already.
