Totally agree. We have just been through a Saturday with 3 big UK shows and this Saturday we have nothing to look forward to...? Imagine if one of those shows was moved to this Saturday.
There's a good card on Fightzone on June 9. There are two Commonwealth Title bouts (albeit it at Super Flyweight). It's probably better than the Frank Warren show on that same day. https://boxrec.com/en/event/872091
I was well aware of that There are a couple of really good fights on that Dennis Hobson card. Also live on BBCIplayer.
It's decent for the UK fans, but it's 2 domestic dust ups at the end of the day....don't think it'll capture much attention outside of Britain.
Why's that a problem? Boxxer are a British promoter who focus on the Sky Sports audience, and this is the British section of the forum. These matchups are much more interesting than seeing the A side fighter vs an obsure foreigner for a minor International title. Love this paragraph from the article:
I don't have an issue with it, I was questioning how this show could be "almost too good to be true", not exactly a fairy tale dream event come true.....it stacks up with a long list of good domestic clashes seen on Sky/BT/Dazn or wherever. Fights like these 2 should be standard to make. Azeez has gained his experience through the pro ranks and credit to him, Some fighters have that amateur pedigree which means they don't need to go through all that and can fight for a world title in less than 10-15 fights. IBO title fights, Interim championships, silver belt, none of that has ever interested me. These A side v obscure foreigners you're talking about included Lewis v Mcalll, AJ v Ruiz and Joyce v Zhang to name a few.....fights that'll live long in the memory.
I was surprised they would put Lawal Chamberlain on the same card as Buatsi Azeez with Marku already on the undercard selling a lot of tickets, especially with Boxxer's think stable and potentially missing out on Smith Eubank II. Allen has confirmed already that he's in talks for July 29 against Wardley. I did make it clear that it wasn't confirmed.
Did you see his interview the other day mate? Sounded like he’d been whacked over the head with a sledgehammer. Allen was fairly popular 4 years ago but not now, they should get someone like Wallin or Takam if they think Wardley is the real deal and want him to headline.
I get were you are coming from with that. Although these fights should be standard on cards. Until Boxxer build either the depth of stable, or the profile of their fighters (which will happen in time given the platform) you do think they have to be careful not to 'stack out' a card as if they do it must reduce the amount of shows they can put on
The plan is for Wardley to win the British Title outright which makes sense. He needs 3 defences. Adeleye is one defence at the end of the year. The only other available options for July 29 are Solomon Dacres and Kash Ali. I'd prefer to see Wardley against either of those two but Wardley Allen is much bigger and less risky.
