Update on the Kamedas Koki and Tomoki

    Edgar Sosa's promoter in Mexico mentioned that a fight with Kameda sometime after June is in the works. Kameda is currently training in Mexico under Eddy Reynoso Mexico's best upcoming young trainer.

    In other news Tomoki " El Mexicanito" Kameda is ssheduled to fight Rodolfo Garay for the Fecarbox Bantam weight championship. The fight will be broadcast on Mexican national television. The fight will be on the Rigoberto Alvarez (Canelo's big brother)vs Marco Antonio Rubio undercard on Jan 16, 2009 (Channel 5 in Mexico).

    I don't think Sosa would fare too well against Kameda. Good to see Koki will be taking on challenges though. Lately, too many of the Japanese fighters have been content to rest on their laurels and just let the promoters schedule easy defenses for them. Oh, and

    Damn, Koki is training with a Mexican trainer? Does Koki speak Spanish or Eddy Japanese? I think Koki could overtake Hozumi as the best boxer in Japan.

    What does "El Mexicanito" mean? And before i forget,

    That Mexican card is nice but it's just as well that the one in Vegas is on American TV instead (Martirosyan vs. Ouma and featherweights Mikey Garcia vs. Joksan Hernandez).

    Both would be nice, but at least it's not one of those awful weeks with zero fights aired on Saturday night, so no sour grapes out of me.
