The Manny Pacquiao vs. Golden Boy and Mayweather lawsuit is still pending in federal court in Nevada, and Manny Pacquiao won a small victory today when a portion of Golden Boy's motion to dismiss the lawsuit was denied. On December 30, 2009, after it became clear there no Pacquiao vs. Floyd Mayweather, Jr. super fight was imminewt, Pacquiao sued Golden Boy Promotions, Oscar De La Hoya, Richard Schaefer, Mayweather Promotions, Floyd Mayweather Sr., Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Roger Mayweather for libel over their accusations that Pacquiao used illegal performance enhancing drugs. In March 2010, Golden Boy, De La Hoya and Schaefer filed a motion to dismiss. One of their arguments was that Pacquiao could not deter their constitutional right to speak out freely about a matter of public concern, namely whether the Nevada Athletic Commission should pass stricter drug testing requirements. Today, that argument was rejected by the court without a written opinion. Top Rank and Golden Boy won't be working together until a resolution is reached. What about Golden Boy's lawsuit against Top Rank, any news on that?
