David Haye could fight Vitali Klitschko this summer with reports suggesting brother Wladimir is struggling for fitness.

Haye's manager Adam Booth is still in talks with opposite number Bernd Boente finalise details of the Briton's heavyweight unification battle with Wladimir, which is likely to take place on July 2.

But with Wladimir still not fully recovered from the stomach muscle injury that reportedly kept him from defending his WBA and IBF titles against Dereck Chisora on two occasions, elder brother Vitali could step in.

Boente said on Sunday that Vitali will be fighting again in June or July after the latest defence of his WBC strap against Odlanier Solis on Saturday ended with the Cuban exile quitting after one round with a badly injured knee.

And Booth told the Guardian that deadlines are in place to settle not only the date and venue of the fight, but also Haye's opponent.

"Third week of April we will make an announcement," Booth said. "By the first week of May, Wladimir will have to tell us if he is fit to fight."

And while three German football stadiums are leading the race to host the big fight, it appears that other European cities are also in the running, including Monte Carlo.

I wish it were so- I really want Vitali to be the one to get in the ring with him. But I think its all a bait and switch and Wlad will get the fight.

    Hope I am wrong.

It'll be Vitali first because Haye wants Wlad. Can't expect K2 to give him anything he prefers.
Vitali has the least to lose. He is thinking about retiring anyway and will blame his age if Haye beats him.

yep, wlad will only fight Haye should Haye beat his older brother up.

Wlads been fighting the lesser punchers for a while, ide have given solis and arreola a good shot v wlad.

Vitali is older, but he still does the same things and fights the same. is only a little slower, was never that fast anyway.

i do think some of his power has gone, and that wlad is more powerful.

Haye can win another belt and the mental edge over wlad should he beat/tko/ko vitali.

Haye wont have problems landing clean hard 2-3 punch combinations on vitali.
if he did on the 7 foot valuev, hele do it to the less tall vitali who is wide open to shots, last fight he didnt even lean back to avoid punches!.

I be happy with it. Wlad's arsehole's going bit by bit and Vitali fancies himself. Be nice when he's on canvas looking stunned like Golota did when big Lennox! bit him like a *****.

    War Haye!!!!

You seem to have missed a lot of the Valuev fight. All of your comments on Haye's performance that night have been dismissive but he was landing 2 punch combinations whilst avoiding the jab and being leant on. What strategy would you suggest using against a man with so many physical advantages. Fact is Haye landed more punches and of better quality while the giant chased shadows AND rocked him at the end.

I agree its blindingly obvious it will be Vitali first but I would prefer that anyway Wlad is the one we want to see but I think starting with the bigger fight would be an error

Everyone seems to be getting a bit excited.

Probably wont happen, they will arrange another fight against Chisora and a re-match for Solis.

Chisora just signed to fight Fury and Vitaly will be retired before Solis is ready again.
