Srisaket and Inoue over Spence and if you don't agree... you're wrong. Why? Accomplishments. There is no debate to be had.
Also dont forget that if he wasnt gorging and force feeding himself and cut weight he would have made 126 and 130 deep into his 30s.
Im a Spence fan but im not sure that win over Garcia should move him up the rankings. That was clearly not a fair fight, not Spence fault as Mikey called him out but that was not a fair fight Mikey was too small and Spence is too good for Mikey to overcome the skill AND the size difference combined. Same top 5 as Scrathlin posted above but id maybe swap GGG and Inoue as GGG is on the decline now.
They had Spence at #10 prior to last Saturday night and Gnome Garcia at #7. Spence held every physical advantage over Mikey and not by a little bit either Height Weight Reach Power Strength And even speed after Mikey added all that Kangaroo Jack muscle Spence is a natural 154 pounder who has a big sinewy frame with virtually zero body fat on it, Mikey is a blown up 135 pounder who is a bit pudgy Pete at that weight, 12lbs South of the one Spence is bursting at the seams at. So let's move Spence up to #5
No need to break it down like this. Was a great win. Doesn't put him among others with better and/or more equivalent victories... Spence is clearly a very good fighter at worst. No question. I legit like the dude so I'll be happy when the resume matches the hype. After a dominant victory over a clear-cut top 10 P4P'er, that still is not the case. But he's close. I suppose in the current state you could rank him in the top 10 maybe. But there are many names you cannot put Spence ahead of at the moment. Those names include Lomachenko, Usyk, Canelo, Srisaket, and Inoue. EDIT: And yes, if you quoted me in the first 60 seconds after my post, it would actually have sounded all jacked up.
This seems like an opinion that should be shared more. Not sure why not. On a casual drunken read, it makes perfect sense even if I don't write it down that way myself. Canelo and Usyk have beaten the better fighters more routinely to retain or climb rankings than the other two. [shrugs]. One over a greater amount of time, too, and the other in an impressive lightning strike of time. Usyk loses a bit of luster here I guess in nature of being within the same division (I know it's been fun the last couple years, but ultimately cruiserweight is still not and has not been a strong division).
Like how Pong didn't get his due as the absolute legend he was. I know he's Thai, but same thing. Pong not getting his due bothers me. And I too was guilty. I agree with Inoue. He has been solidly well inside my top 10 P4P upon beating Narvaez, his second #1 ranked scalp while leapfrogging a division entirely. Dude is a beast, beyond just his nickname.
I was guilty on Pong, too. It's really all fighters primarily based out of Asia that phenomenon happens to - Chris John from Indonesia being another example, and Nietes, who just got ranked P4P last year after having been a championship level fighter for over a decade
