The quality isn't that great but it's good enough to see Gerry Penalosa at his very best. This was his first title defense. Enjoy.

    Nice.

I would be really impressed if somebody got to dig out that Penalosa fight in Cebu City where a riot took place.

Chairs and coins and **** were all flying in the air, opposing trainers were punching each other.

    Bedlam.

    Mid 1990s.

I don't quite know what you mean by that. Care to explain?

Marco Antonio Barrera, Gerry Penalosa, Myung-Woo Yuh, Alexis Arguello, Orlando Canizales, Michael Spinks, Donovan Ruddock, Julio Cesar Chavez.

    ...They are my favorite fighters.

    Mea Culpa!

Might be thinking of somebody else.

Anyway, Penalosa in almost all of his career was the smaller man and it is amazing how slick he is really!

    My mistake!

I was so sure you are a Cotto guy!

    Mistakes do happen.

    Thanks anyway!

Fearless is one of the slickest boxers around, as he combines defense and offense in his slickness!

...Are you implying that Cotto fans wouldn't know who Gerry is...or at least certainly wouldn't own footage of him?

Penalosa is one of the many fighters I wished I could have watched during their prime. It was painful to watch him get pummeled by Lopez last year...showed one hell of a freakish chin though.

Not exactly. Penalosa's prime is like the 90's and I never encountered soemone who still has videos of him in his prime. I never thought that you would dig him!

Basides boxing fan tends to favor a certain kind of style or stick to their own national borders or colour or whatever that he belongs to.

Pity that so many avoided him when he was in his prime.

I can recall some Gym stories where a world champion was thinking of having gerry as a tune-up or something and backed out when he saw Gerry spar.

shame gerry broke into mainstream awareness only when he was too old and was fighting against boxers who were a division or two above his natural weight class
