I personally thought Lewis' interview was hilarious. The cut ruined it...could have turned int a real classic had it been allowed to continue, for what it is though, a terrific Heavyweight fight.
Lewis has been damaged goods for years. He could hardly get his words out at the end. Listen to him when he wanted to get it on with Bowe. His speech flows like you would expect. He did well to go on so long. All fighters are damaged but I was getting worried about Lewis.
lewis was training for a gimme, vitali had already been in training when he took the fight, lewis was fat, if it had been vitali from the start lewis would have made easier work of him
This fight proves Lewis doesnt hav a glass chin like some people say. But if the fight went on longer, i think Lewis would have won a split decision (non controversial).
I don't understand what was so controversial about the decision anyhow. That cut was absolutely horrendous, there was no choice but for the referee to stop it and it came as a result of the right hand at the start of round 3. Someone like to fill me in on the controversy?
There was a religious war on ESB about this very thing. Radar v Widdow and his grainy stills. It is on the old system but I am sure someone can dig it up. All I'll say is that it is clearly a punch but it seems like the side of the glove caught Vitali. That glancing blow opened the cut above the eye, and the doc was concerned that allowing the fight to continue would result in nerve damage to Klitscko's face. The allegations were of headbutts and laces opening the original cut.
Oh, and the dreadlocks... And beard... There were serious claims that the damage was due to a combination of the above.
