Well, just to explain why I chose Cambell vs. Diaz over Quintana vs. Williams... Williams' true judgement of the boxing world was still in the air, no one really knew how good he was... and he wasn't a very popular fighter. Diaz was (and is) very popular, came close to the P4P top10, already proved a lot (unifications) and there you go... That's a pretty big upset. For me, 2007's biggest upset was Naito UD Wonjongkam, Donaire vs. Darchinyan came close to that. Just everybody forgot about that one. 2008 is looking to be a very wild year... I wouldn't rule out a Gomez-Cotto upset (of course I wouldn't bet on it), DLH might pull it off against an inactive Floyd, Wlad is always there to get KOd, Khan's and Haye's chin is a factor, Pavlik is looking beatable so who knows...
well i thought williams could be beat he was very sloppy and had awful defence. i trust his chin so i thought he wouldnt need it. also his amatuer background hadnt shown anythign that would suggest a problem to anyone big and technical but i didnt think quintana would be able to do it. diaz on the other hand was different he was very dangerous and few thought he could be beat inside the lightwieght rankings i personally felt he was 4th highest p4p american fighter after floyd, hopkins, pavlik and the last 2 seem very strange for a guy who only fights once a year and another who has had only one defence of his title.so he was breaking in the top 10 p4pers and should of been there is feel before the loss. whast also made it and upset was from nate campbell who i thought was on a treadmill. and had lost alot of his earlier finesse. and also in the manner that he won i thought diaz would of been beaten by a bigger slugger who could keep him at bay and slam rigthhand down the pipe all night. but how campbell just started to outwork a man who has a very very high workrate was amazing
Quintana was the biggest because of the roll Williams was on. I'm most AMAZED at Lee though:-( Thats the punch I didnt see:yep
I really didn't see Diaz losing to Campbell. I thought the fight would be close but after the cut, Diaz crumbled. It was unexpected but after watching the fight play out, I thought Diaz would get mentally tough and suck that cut up and go to work.
I'm actually surprised that more people are picking Campbell over Diaz. I thought the general concensus of ESB was that Campbell was a live underdog, and that Paul Williams was damn near unbeatable :think
Mike Tyson looking like he ate the equivalent of a 1000 ears lately to make him look that fat.... :yikes :tong
