Urango loses 3 years after Hatton beat him and now the victory "doesn't look good"???

FFS!!

 

The knock on effect is that Floyd and Pac's victories over Hatton don't look so good either now.

I fear Urango's loss last night could spell the end for boxing.

 

Don't doubt the logic, Gaz. It's sound. Never mind that Alexander actually looks very good as well- that's not been taken into account either:roll:.

Will last nights fight affect Mayweathers win over JMM? Pac only drew with JMM so I guess its a bit pointless having a Mayweather-Pac fight now?

 

Its a cliche that shouldn't need repeating too often but "styles make fights". Cotto outpoints Paulie and Hatton stops him, does that mean Hatton automatically beats Cotto?

I've not seen the Alexander fight yet, I take it he was impressive?

Its got me thinking of just folding up the whole boxing thing and supporting MMA full-time instead.

I can't for the life of me remember one.

 

I have reached the point where I no longer repeat that phrase as sum people just don't get it. Their failure to grasp such a simple concept says a lot, IMO.

Anywho, Alexander looked very good indeed. He was fast, accurate, his timing was perfect, he took his time, he counter-punched extremely effectively and his defence seemed very good on the whole although he kept his left hand a little low at times and that's something he's going to have to work on as he was caught a few times. Considering this is his second TKO against seasonsed pros who haven't ever been beaten in such a way before, I'd say he belongs amongst the elite. Hope he doesn't fight Zab next, though- that is a step back considering there are much better fights to be made for him, IMO.

 

What happened with Judah?

I've read the article how he tried to do a Mosley and was embarrassed..... agreed though it is a bad step. Not wishing to sound pedantic because of the fact that world titles mean **** all - but Zab really needs to earn his shot.

He didn't deserve his last two (Cotto and Clottey) and basically took a gamble on the TD rule by quitting (in my opinion) when on the way to being stopped in the latter.

 

Alexander looked good. Though to be fair, I thought Urango would get to him even as the KO happened. He just landed probably a career best shot on Urango. He had come close once or twice with that uppercut but it's not like he put down a sustained beating.

He outboxed him, but got clipped himself a few times. Then landed a stunning punch.

I thought I had this boxing thing sorted out but this single thread, with it's simple yet flawless logic, has changed my whole perspective of the sport.
