I think this is a pretty even matchup i dont know about you guys but i like it. Its a tough challenge for both fighters. I expect that they both could get a ko but i give the advantage in that department to Urango. A decision win favors Berto with his boxing skills. I have to give the chin advantage to Urango. Speed advantage to Berto. It will be a good fight that will say a lot of both fighters. If a ko comes it will be Urangos TKO8 OR LATE 9, if its a decision it will be unanimous 116-112,117-111, 116-112. wHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK???:bbb
As the poll results show so far, there are questions about Berto's chin. Even though Urango fights one division down, people are still thinking he might KO Berto. Urango puts a lot of pressure on. He can be outboxed, but if they start trading shots in the middle of the ring, Berto might get the worst of it. Berto definitely has faster hands, but a fight between these two could come down to who has the best chin.
i think this is a great fight...credit to both fighters for accepting this challenge. This is Bertos fight to win or lose. Berto could make this an easy fight...his handspeed is amazing. But he has a lot of "brawl" in him. It will be interesting to see which version of Berto shows up.
Agreed. but like the guy b4 u said i would love to see Urango pull the upset or at least make it really interesting
You know, there are a lot of people on this forum who feel this fight is a mismatch. For that reason alone I hope Urango KOs Berto!!:good
I love seeing the unexpected but hope Berto wins this so he is lined up for bigger and better things. Personally I think Urango is going to get outclassed if Berto doesn't get caught up in trading blow for blow.
this will be an interesting match-up. my reasons are different than most, probably, but i am just as eager to see it. i think that both urango and berto are massively overrated, each in their own way. at the very least this will be a welterweight fight between two guys who don't belong in the welterweight division in the first place. it is absurd that berto ever had a pro fight at middleweight. he looks to me like a natural junior welter...he just needs to lay off the jeff lacy protein shakes. urango has always looked to me a natural lightweight who, like berto, is packed on (and weighted down) with show bulk that does him little good in the ring. berto, because he is not a natural welter and, even still, has to dehydrate massively to make 147, blows back up and loses flexibility, range and foot speed to the additional poundage. berto has great natural athleticism, but, to me, it is as if he is doing everything he can to stifle and betray those gifts. the only thing he needs to beef up is his defense. he got hit way too much, way too cleanly by luis collazo who, if he had real power, would have had a real crack at hurting and stopping berto with the kinds of shots he was landing. urango is--with minor digressions into boxing a little--a wild slugger who sacrifices balance to try risky counters, headhunts instead of investing in the possibility that the fight will extend into the late rounds and who is, in that way, a sweetheart deal for a cool-headed, clever boxer. he appeared to be cleanly outboxed by ben rabah and somehow got a decision nod so ridiculous that even his hometown crowd boo'd, hissed and protested the verdict. and the sad part is that ben rabah is not even that slick a finesse fighter...just a decent technician still washing the green out. i expect berto to take this one by decision, in part because of how unsuited to welterweight urango looked against hatton. berto is a marginally bigger guy naturally, even if neither one is a welterweight, really. berto's handspeed will definitely be a factor. but, to get the decision, berto will have to leave his impulse to come always forward in the gym. if he just plays collision course with urango he gives the uneven puncher his best chance to win it.
urango by tko in the mid rounds. bertos chin is shaky, while urangos is solid. urango will probably carry his power up in class well, and while berto will look better early with his fast hands, hell get caught eventually (since he tends to like a slugfest) and go down.
Berto loves fighting too much to beat Urango. If he used his skills he would stand Urango on his head..... Hatton had a pretty lousy night and still won nearly every round..... but for me Berto will be dragged inwards and stopped late. Urango has a rock solid beard that could take Berto's shots, and is fairly awkward.... a Collazo rematch would have been the better option for him..... as he won't be forced to fight for the full three minutes of each round.
