Americans are sometimes a bit shallow, maybe it comes from watching too much WWE?
He might turn out to be really good? He might not be as overtrained and ripped as a Michael Grant or a Jeff Lacy was, and it might be an advantage.

Ironic that one of the most obese nations in the world wants all their athletes to be in super shape and pumped!

Is it too much to ask for an elite professional boxer to be in shape? We're not even talking about ripped, just "not fat" would be an upgrade for most of the American prospects. Fat people tend to have less speed and stamina, which are somewhat important in boxing.

I agree that it dosent help you to be fat, but you dont get speed and stamina from looking like a bodybuilder. I think that you have to find a balance.

Joe Frazier, George Foreman (in the 70's at least), Ali, Norton, Shavers, Liston...

Those guys were in excellent shape and did not have bodybuilder bodies. Nobody's asking for bodybuilder bodies, we just want heavyweights that are in shape. Do Chambers, Arreola, or this new fat kid look anything like those guys? If this is the "balance" you're talking about, then my god has the heavyweight division turned into the biggest joke in sports.

Right. Nobody wants monsters, we want them to be at least capable of fighting 12 hard rounds without an oxygen mask.

Wilder was knocked out by the Russian Evgeny Romanov a few months before the Olympics.
