US Amateur Boxers: 1975-Present

    I mean during this time frame we had guys like Ray Leonard, Tommy Hearns, Floyd, Oscar, and many others.

    Who do you feel were the most talented US amateurs during this time frame?

    Leonard IMO. He looked fantastic in his amateur days, more than the others, I would say DLH is the second...

    outside of the cuban heavys, the best olympic ive seen is ray leonard. with out a doubt.

    Howard Davis (132 lbs.) and Clinton Jackson (147 lbs.) were the Top 2 in 1976,

    Both had terrific amateur careers.

    And, both were good professionals, despite their flaws.

    I remember seeing a clip of Leonard knocking some dude the **** out in an amateur fight - can't for the live of me, remember who it was.

    Leonard, followed by Roy Jones.

    Both looked so superior to their competition.

    Sweat Pea deserves a mention, as does Oscar.
