So every fighter has to prove himself in the US, maybe in LV, the Mecca of boxing, according to the US fans, because it's the only way for a pro boxer to earn credibility. It has to be the case, because when their boy's getting his a** kicked (Lacy), suddenly he's not the new Tyson anymore, but the new overhyped bum BECAUSE he was defeated in Europe. You dig? Not Calzaghe is the one who's THAT good, but Lacy is the one who's THAT bad. How bad is a fighter who loses to a euro fighter in Europe, especially without controversy?

So... Calzaghe has to come to the US to prove he's not protected, right? Because 50.000 paying fans doesn't mean ****: in the US, you are fighting before the vast majority of true boxing experts and the true hardcore boxing fans.

So, Calzaghe is there, but where are YOU
    ?

The half-packed Thomas and Mack Center will be packed half by Joe's hardcore fans, 6.000 making the trip overseas, maybe a bit more. Hopkins' or the US fans will be only a few hundred it seems. So... my question is: how many of the so-called US fans, the ones who demanded Calzaghe to fight in the US will actually show up as Joe did?

Dear US boxing fans, who say 'protected', 'homeboy' and 'USA is the place to prove'. HE'S IN HE US OF A BEACAUSE OF YOU! THE US BOXING PUBLIC! BUT WHERE ARE YOU?

Before u start panicking and even considering suicide, I just want to add that you can still buy a ticket to support Hopkins. Or to root against Calzaghe. Or support the Welsh fighter. Or just attend to a true historical event.

What a great fight of skill machines! You might not want to miss this one live...

It was Hopkins who demanded the fight be held in the states not the US fans. Hopkins got what he wanted but soon realized that the US fans are not all that much in favor of him, and the ticket sales prove it . The fight should have been held overseas because much more money would have been made. Hopkins is a legend in his own mind.

It's just that it seems the ticket sale is slowed down. I'm just wondering why Joe had to make a trip to the US to fight before 6.000 of his UK fans instead of fighting before 50.000 his in his home country.

First I hear 'protected', then when he actually makes his trip to fight in the US, nobody seems to really care. Where are those who were crying 'protected'?

This fight would have filled the Millenium Stadium for certain. Probably twice over.

I'm very disappointed that an event as big as this is not having the fans' support at the gates.

A lot of people are sitting on their asses and watching it on the TV, no doubt. Many people wanted to see how he does off of his home turf and we shall know tomorrow :D

yes good point. But in US no one knows Joe and no one wants to watch Hopkins. The only people calling Joe C. over to US are hardcore boxing fans. US fight fans will be watching UFC on Sat. night.

Boxing sadly is boring to many Americans. Plus we don't have 50 million people in what would be equivalent to the size of an average state. Most don't have the time or money to go thousands of miles for every big fight.
