why the **** would anyone fly out to Vegas just for this fight? nobody in America gives a **** about this. Joe has stayed in Wales almost his entire career and now he's coming over to fight a fighter whom the general public doesn't give a flying **** about in a sport that is on the decline here and to boot he's in the twilight of his career, and you're acting surprised at the gate? they could have it in Europe for all i care, doesn't mean **** to me...

the whole deal is that Joe has fought with home advantage and on his own terms his entire career, never going outside to really test himself. IMO this doesn't count as a test but Las Vegas is a logical choice, and there won't be an advantage for Hopkins because he is not a popular fighter here. most people don't even know who he is. so it's an effective neutral location.

    Well, I never.:nono

With attitudes like that, is it any wonder why Joe decided to stay in Wales. Good day sir:bart

He's fighting against a guy noone likes really. Hopkins has been hated in all his fights. Calzaghe SHOULD be the crowd favorite here.

We (those of us with functional brains) know that where Joe fights has nothing to do with how awesome he is.

Bone is just trying to razzle up some support for the fight....but there's nothing we can do at this point.

I find it the biggest contradiction in sport that you have to fight in america to prove yourself. That was an excuse developered by americans because they aint got the bottle to fight any were else. How the hell can you call it protection of calzaghe, if that is the case then it works for the yanks as well!!!!!:happy

So he goes to the mecca of boxing to fight a tough opponent in hopkins, stepping up in weight to be a 2 weight champ (heavily criticised for staying at smw). He is ticking all the boxes the neighsayers complain about yet the american fans will still not be happy??

What does he have to do to get any props across there?

Neutral location no advantage to hopkins?? its the first time calzaghe will have had such media attention that he is getting now. Hopkins has had this in many US fights, the build up is something totally new and lesser fighters could get overrawed by it.
The location is a big advantage for hopkins.

i think there are WAY 2 many fights in vegas, msg, and atlantic city. if they arent gunna go around the world with the big fights anymore at least go around america (only cause the us is the 'mecca of boxing' not cause i live in america)

If Hopkins had gone to WAles to fight Calzaghe, would Joe still be protected?

I don't think location matters as long as the guys you are fighting have more then a pulse...there's too much emphasis on having to come to America. In Joe's case, why would he want to when his fights draw 30k + people in Wales?

Now that I think of it, I wonder why Max had to come here for Louis, he never went there, and Patterson didn't dare fight Ingemar overseas,,hmmmmmm:think

With a ****-boring fighter like Hopkins in the fight the US public doesn't care.
