US Midwest Circuit Fighters of the 90's....

    The Wimpy Halstead thread got me thinking about all the pugs racking up gaudy records (sometimes not so guady) on what was amorphously known as the Midwest Circuit, a group of states with scant regulation, lots of state fairs and Ramada Inns with rings, and suspect results. Outside of Tim Morrison (Tommy's older bro), Halstead and the great Tim Tomashek, we had guys like Buck Smith, Marty Jakubowski, Lee Cargle, Jeff Lally, Bronco Billy Wright.. It was a unique boxing subculture. I witnessed a few of these bouts in the Dakotas but was never really in on the scene. Anyone have some insights, stories, mentions?

    Never forget Don Steel's 40ish KO, Wilder'esque rise (to the top of the midwest circuit lol)

    I have a soft spot for Buck Smith. Actually scored a several fairly impressive upsets. A real hard hitter who would come at you with everything he had despite his lack of conventional boxing credentials.

    Do remember that Civic he drove to most of his fights and racked up a couple hundred thousand miles on?
