US Olympian Gary Russell turns pro tonight

    From what I understand his fight will be the first one on the Shobox card tonight, not sure though. Gary was the US 119lbs representative at this year's Olympics but didn't get to compete after collapsing trying to make weight.

    And Gary won a 3rd round stoppage in what was actually a very entertaining, testing fight for a pro debut. Russel put some nice combos together; looked al ittle bit tight at first, probably from not fighting for so long. But all in all, now that he got that first fight out of the way, I look forward to watching his next fight.

    Gary looked good. Good power blazing handspeed. The only thing I don't like is the way he keeps that hand low. I can't wait to see more.

    yeah great combination the handspeed was unreal. but i agree with pimp c that his lef thand wa slow for no reason. it wasnt like he was jabbing or countering he just tore the guy apart.

    He looks promising.. He just needs to straighten out his punches because they're kinda wide.
