Thanks for the info. I'm not trying to pass myself off as an expert on Amateur boxing. Just a pretty interested guy. That has got to be plenty of people on this board actually involved in the Amateur programs that would obviously know way more then me. Whats Warren's injury? And what do you think his chances are of being fit for the games?
I know ABA ranks Shiming at 112; probably above Warren too, right? But Shiming was in Chciago at 106, there's no way the Chinese are moving him up a weight class, he's qualified at 106. Andrade is the one who's injured, has a broken jaw, but it should hopefully be healed in time for the Olympics.
If you don't mind the thread taking a turn slightly off topic, I'll post some videos of several of our Olympians.
hum....I was going to do that in a couple of weeks. I think it would be better to have a dedicated thread to them because that would probably get more interest. And would be more worh while then burrying abunch of really good infor in a thread that probably wouldn't get as many people's attention.
I maybe just don't have my **** together right now enough to get a decent threat going on the olympics right now. But if you want to get a new thread going then by all means do. I'd have some decent stuff to throw on there as well.
Cool man. I'd like to help you with a thread for the Olympics, I compete and am around USA Boxing quite a bit so if you want videos, info, etc.; let me know. :thumbsup
Kolya, I heard a rumour a while back here on ESB that Michael Hunter might be getting a spot at the olympics cause some chines guy in his division had to pull out or something. Did anything ever come of that?
I know a lot of officials, etc. in USA Boxing and also the boxers, so I can get info pretty easily. It's not a big deal. :thumbsup
We won't know until later this month, possibly until the team arrives in China even. It would be cool though if he got the spot and we still sent 9 guys, with Yanez being out.
We don't know who the rumors were about. Could be about Islam Timurziev, who is very prone to injury and illness, or could be the Chinese guy. I heard that if one of them was unable to compete for some reason that AIBA would possibly give Hunter the open spot because he was next in the qualifying line.
