Why? It was something fun, it looked like he rolled out of it anyway and would have had better position had they continued. I think it was who could take who down first, not a real fight.

Not to mention he looked like he had about 6 inches and 60 pounds on the guy.

He needs to watch more DVDs.

    Go Iraqi civilian!

It is nice to see a vid like that when the media is constantly putting them in a bad light.

Most military guys don't get as much pure hand to hand unarmed training as is commonly thought, and for good reason, they are there to be modern soldiers not spartans, so firearm and tactical training takes precident, along with language and culture training. Plus, the training they recieve, while reasonably heavy on takedowns, isn't pure wrestling training, which is what they are doing. The guy didn't really look like a great wrestler, he was almost totally focused on getting the right tie up for whatever throw he already had in his mind, not paying attention to what the other guy was doing, and didn't seem to be trying all that hard either.

Not to mention I know that Iran has a very high level of interest and success in wrestling, its part of their culture as much or more than us even. While I realize that Iraq and Iran are not the same at all and Iraq doesn't have the level of success as Iran, there is probably still a fairly high level of interest, and the Iraqi guy was probably the best wrestler of the group there.
