Hey guys bit of a window has opened up and im looking at heading stateside.

Ive pinpointed a couple of weeks where i think will be best.

Thinking of heading to see - Rampage v Machida on 20th November in Michigan ( George Sotiropoulos , Aussie on undercard)

then skip to Vegas and catch Katsidis v Marquez on the 27th Nov.

Just wondering if anyone has done similiar and has any tips.

Is it difficult to get tickets, i do a bit of freelance work and might even try and grab some media tickets perhaps.

Going by myself at the moment , my mate reckons he cant afford it ....so thats something holding me back also , anyone else heading over??

I'm not heading over, but make sure you pay homage to Johnny Toco's gym in Vegas. The Top Rank gym is worth checking out too, if you can get in.

Sounds like a great trip. The UFC card with Jackson v Machida looks great. I expect Machida to do a job on Rampage.

Been there a few times, to various cities. Shame about the order of the fights, since if U R going to LA first Vegas is kinda closer. You probably wont need more than a couple of days in Vegas anyway. Vegas is a desert city so in the deeper winter months it does get quite cold at night. Was there in march this year and was relatively cool at night. Depending on how many days ur in vegas, see if u can arrange a day trip to check out the grand canyon. quite a sight to behold.

San Diego is just 2 hours drive south of LA and is worth checking out. And while you are there u can check out Tujuana, and then u can say that youve been to mexico.

Miami is awesome. Loved it. Just dont bother with downtown Miami, and stick to south beach. If u plan to go to the florida keys (key west), dont underestimate the time it takes to drive there. Around 5 hours each way.

    Things about USA:
    - The price you see on the shelf is not the actual price, for whatever reason the yanks print the price before tax and you gotta work out in your head what the final price will be.
    - Tipping is compulsory, for pretty much everything. Sometimes you will even go to the bathroom where someone is standing at the paper towel dispenser and hands you a paper towel and u gotta tip em. Dont use your shrapnel to tip, it is considered very rude.
    - Refilling your soft drinks. Its pretty much standard that you get to refill your soft drinks for free, unless its a classy high-priced restaurant. So dont be afraid to refill your drink.
    - If you hire a car and drive somewhere and see a lane that seems to be emptier than the others and has HOV written on it, it stands for "High Occupancy Vehicle" meaning you cannot use the lane if you are alone in the car. Theyve been starting to enforce that quite heavily lately.
    - Many americans are very political, so avoid bringing up politics or risk a long conversation about political issues you care nothing about.
    - In LA nearly all pubs and clubs shut their doors at 1am (some even at 12am) and dont let new people in after that.
    - Dont forget the yanks not only have a different power plug, but also a different voltage. This goes also for temperature and many other things.

If I think of anything else I'll let ya know. Dont forget to get travel insurance, and register yourself online that you are planning to go to the US, otherwise they turn you right back around and send u home lol.

    cheers
