I gave it to PBF 8-4 but I think thats even stretching it for cotto. I thought cotto was in a lot of the rounds but wasnt doing enough to win them. He really lost it from 9-12. After a very good 8th round he did nothing after that. What cotto did do is really make mayweather work to win the fight. On the scoring it looks like an easy nights work for floyd but his was made to work for the win and I give cotto props for that.
3,6,8,10 could be for cotto. only 8 was definitive, then 6 was close. 3 and 10 couldve gone either way. in any case it was a close but clear decision for me. i cant see how people coudlve had cotto winning to be honest. even after the fight- as the scores were read- cotto didnt look like he thought he d won.
In 12 round fights....the underdog can squeak in and win the fight by winning 4 rds outright and make the other 3 controversial and you take home the victory. Cotto won this fight.
I gave Cotto(e) 4 rounds, and that is the absolute most you could possibly give him if you know anything about scoring fights.
Cotto won no more than 3 rounds in that fight. If you gave him more you don't know how to score a fight.
I just completed a Professional Boxing Scoring 2-year associate degree from Everest College in January, here in Big D. Criminal Justice co-major dovetails perfectly into the Program.
He is biased, but your opinion doesn't match what anyone else saw? :blood Even Emanuel Steward. *******s... :yep
I cant make an argument for Cotto winning any rounds outside of 6 ad 8...he was outlanded with harder/cleaner shots in every round apart from those
This....while I had the fight clearly 8-3 I can understand 7-4 for Floyd. Though I won't catch a titty attack for those who can dervive more rounds for Cotto. I personally gave Floyd a UD but the vast majority of the rounds where extremely close both men impressed and put in good work the contrast of styles and versitilty both fighters displayed can sometimes overshadow viable and somewhat tangible point stats. I've always been taught fights are to scored based on effective agression, ring gerneralship but you must factor in he provides the drama who causes the other fighter out of their comfort zone and creates a ora of uncertainty.
The only round for me that cotto clearly won was the 8th. It is common conception that cotto clearly won the 3rd when imo floyd landed more overall. Also the 6th round was so close it is impossible to give to either fighter. Other than that i fail to see how cotto effective.
