tell me your predictions of the following fights to see who would win this team event. i'll take the one of the best fighters from each country in the original 8 weight classes.

Heavy: Muhammad Ali vs Lennox Lewis
175: Ezzard Charles vs Joe Calzaghe
160: Marvin Hagler vs Randy Turpin
147: Ray Robinson vs Ted "Kid" Lewis
135: Pernell Whitaker vs Freddie Welsh
126: Willie Pep vs Naseem Hamed
118: Manuel Ortiz vs Owen Moran
112: Mark "Too Sharp" Johnson vs Jimmy Wilde

    thoughts?

Lewis defeating Ali is the most likely i'd say. With about a 33% chance

Jimmy Wilde saves the day from being a whitewash, although Moran and Ortiz would be close imo.

that was my thinking too. wilde and moran would have the best shots. "too sharp" is way underrated imo. he was a great fighter at 112.

i'd pick Lewis over the Ali who fought Holmes...Only joking!

UK cant win these match ups.

Not really fair to compare UK and USA. US has had far more boxers than UK and therefore far more great boxers in all divisions.

How about best of USA v best of Mexico?

I can think of a few UK fighters I would substitute but whats the point it's 8-0 however you spin it. Someone fancy having a go at UK v France, might cheer me up.

Yeah, but I still don't think "Too sharp" was better than Johnny Tapia.

Tapia - Wilde, now that's a great match up!

Wilde would probably win and maybe Moran.

Welsh beating Whitaker or Lewis beating Robinson is not so improbable that it would constitute a masive upset.

I suggest that Bob Fitzsimmons should take the place of Turpin or Calzaghe.
