    yes but by law any person born on the island of ireland (northern or southern) has the right to declare themselves irish,british or indeed northern irish.john holds an irish passport not a british and is most definatly not a british person,where you are from does not define your nationality,instead nationality is an imagined thing that is defined in one's own persona,yes birth place does feed into it but it is merely a pointer of nationality.

    try telling john he's not irish,or he's not from derry and i think you'll find a totally different standpoint from yours,stop bringing your nationalistic drivvel onto this forum.

    for legal evidence of my claim;

    "It is the entitlement and birthright of every person born in the island of Ireland, . . . to be part of the Irish nation. That is also the entitlement of all persons otherwise qualified in accordance with law to be citizens of Ireland."
