USADA and Floyd's Opponents

All PED cheaters at this level are skillful. It's not like Ben Johnson or Lance Armstrong were random people on the street. They just needed the edge, just like Floyd did.

Olympic legend Carl Lewis is among more than 100 American athletes involved in a cover-up of drug use, documents reveal.
Lewis and two of his training partners all took the same three types of banned stimulants and were caught at the 1988 US Olympic trials, according to the documents released by a disgruntled former senior US anti-doping official, Dr Wade Exum.
But on appeal to their national Olympic committee, all were cleared of inadvertent doping. Two months later, at the Seoul Olympics, Lewis finished second in the 100 metres sprint. But when Canadian Ben Johnson failed his Olympic drug test, Lewis was awarded the 100m gold.
Lewis also won the Olympic long jump - as part of his career tally of nine Olympic gold medals - and his training partner, Joe De Loach, won the 200m in Seoul.
Lewis's lawyer, Martin Singer, has responded to the revelations by saying his client had taken only a herbal remedy.

"Carl did nothing wrong," Mr Singer told The Orange County Register. "There was never intent."

The latest documents show Lewis tested positive for the banned stimulants found in cold medications: pseudoephedrine, ephedrine and phenylpropanolamine.
The World Anti-Doping Agency's chairman, **** Pound, dismissed the "no intent" defence. Mr Pound has seen copies of the documents and said that in some instances there was almost "automatic forgiveness" by the US officials.
Letters written by a US Olympic Committee executive, Baaron Pittenger, were sent advising some athletes of their positive drug-test results - and at the same time told them they were being cleared.
"It's got to be pretty embarrassing to the USOC," said Mr Pound, "to have their secretary-general writing in the letter, where he advises an athlete of a positive A sample, 'I have to send you this, but we already decided this was inadvertent.' That whole process turned into a joke."

director for drug control from 1991 to 2000, released more than 30,000 pages of documents to Sports Illustrated. They confirm widespread suspicion of the USOC drug-testing system before it was moved to an independent body, the US Anti Doping Agency, after the Sydney Olympics.
The Herald reported last year that a US athlete tested positive to steroids in 1999 but was allowed to compete - and win an Olympic gold medal - in the 2000 Sydney Games. US officials still refuse to divulge the name of the athlete, or those of 13 other athletes who had failed drug tests around the same time, citing privacy laws.

if 10 million dollars were at stake, i would drop up to 500k to get an edge

i would definitely juice..but probably EPO is more for me as i dont need muscles, i have natural punching power, i need stamina.....

now imagine if you are talking 30 and 100 million....i would pay 150k legimitimately and 2mm under the table somewhere, a donation to an unknown charity, ADASU Christian organization, and then use it as a tax write-off, but that is just me...

not to change the subject but i was watching tyson holyfield 2 the other day....holyfield was roided to the gills, he failed the eyetest, tyson never had a chance

 

I find it amusing that is has become commonplace to refer to people, who question the ethics of any organisation, whether they be private, public or third sector companies and institutions, as 'conspiracy theorists'.

When it comes to drug testing agencies, as well as various sports' governing bodies, there is a documented history of failure and corruption in the distribution, use and detection of illegal Performance Enhancing Drugs and Methods, going back decades.

Holding on to an idea that a sports-person's failure, either in adhering to the rules or in a resulting drugs test, would never be, at best, kept secret or, worse still, actively covered up, is extremely naive. When you add a clear and present conflict of interest into the mix, e.g. a millionaire sports-person hiring their own testing agency, combined with a multi-million dollar event in the making, then the likelihood of improper treatment of the testing and the results therein (as well as exemptions), for any athlete involved, becomes extremely high.

In the recent case of Mayweather's use of IV, granted on a retroactive TUE, there are some clear facts - not theories - as to the events, which quite rightly have attracted scrutiny; particularly, since Floyd had contracted the services of the drug testing agency in question. Likewise, have the errors, which led to Pacquaio being refused a medication on exception raised concerns. It is, therefore, healthy that the truth be pursued and any wrongdoing criticised and, if severe enough, punished.

Shame on those who discourage the honest disclosure of questionable behaviours and activities, by stereotyping the questioners.

 

If Floyd was using VADA proolew would be *****ing about VADA and wondering why hr isn't using USADA. USADA aren't risking that Olympic money for those 100k checks they have gotten from Floyd over the past 7 fights or so.

I'm not sure that USADA is taking much risk here at all. After all, they are effectively 'the administrators' and are virtually autonomous. This means they are the interpretors of the WADA code and, to a great extent, the judges of whether or not they are compliant with that code.

I am not fully convinced that they properly complied with the WADA code. At best, I would suggest that they used conflicting aspects of the International Standards and guidelines on TUE decisions, in respect to Intravenous Infusions.

You don't need to be a 'drug testing expert' to understand and comment on whether or not rules and regulations were followed.

1. Yes, Floyd's opponents probably can/could get away with juicing too, under USADA.

2. Yes, VADA is probably corruptable too, with holes in the testing.

3. Somebody has to be the most devious hypocritical cheat of all the PED users in boxing (PED users = every elite fighter), the one who's ahead of the curve, playing double mind games and bluffing that he's cleaning up the sport.
