No, there isn't any evidence. Not that we know about, at least. It was probably started because of the rumors.

What they will tell the court is that the truth is an absolute defense to defamation. Mayweather claims that Pacquiao defamed him by accusing him of taking steroids. Pacquiao's response, among others, will be that if Mayweather has taken steroids then Pacquiao couldn't have defamed him. One problem with this is that the USADA apparently wasn't even testing Mayweather at the time Pacquiao made the statement, so the test results aren't even relevant to the case. If Mayweather started taking steroids in 2010 then Pacquiao's statement could still be defamatory. I'm not even sure that a court would allow this, but they could maybe say to a jury that a positive test result in 2010+ could be evidence that he was on steroids before, but that seems really weak. This trial isn't really about whether or not he was on steroids.

Ultimately, this shouldn't even matter to the case. Pacquiao's statement doesn't even come close to meeting the standard for defamation. As you noted above, it's really none of Pac's business as it pertains to this case, but they can only benefit by asking for the records.
