Who was that Etheopian who won the Oylimpics in the 60s Barefoot. Then in the next Oylimpics Was it Nike offered Him a fortune to run in there shoes, which He dis and came 4th :rofl
RDJ, posted the same time . Good find and all true. Check out Pose Running, designed for that type of thing. One thing missing is the impotance of eyes as regards Gait, and how the eyes play a part. I spend some time Stretching the feet, they always get overlooked :good
Read about pose running a while ago. I always run on the ball of the foot, I don't land on the heel and roll because it feels awkward and makes my knees hurt. The good thing about all this is that boxing shoes offer relatively little support at the foot sole, which is good. Stretching the foot, glad to hear someone mention it. It can be done sitting behind your computer, one toe at a time or the entire foot at once. I always stretch the hands as well, finger by finger.
Army boots are designed to support your heels, ankles and shins from the stresses of carrying/running heavy equipment while on very rough terrain. Running while wearing Army boots isn't advisable. I see where you're coming from with the Ali factor but there's no need. If you want your toes and heals being red raw and the skin rubbed off and toe nails coming off the so be it. This is from experience.
The reason people used to run like this is simply for the extra weight. You're better off using ankle weights, though imo it's still not the brightest thing to do. From personal experience using army boots (even the kind designed for running), they suck. You will have shin splints, blisters, and abrasions everywhere. And it'll break down the muscle tissue in your legs, which isn't productive at all.
