Usually, there are no rematches for superfights, so don't get your hopes up.

    Whitaker/Chavez
    Ray/Hagler
    Felix/DLH
    Lewis/Tyson
    Lewis/Vitali

80% chance there will be no rematch for MayPac. And thank goodness for that.

I don't think any of those fights made 500 million in revenue though... fights back then were all about glory and bragging rights. Now it's all about money and much less glory. Money talks, much less a quarter of a billion dollars. I hope Manny goes back down to 140, but I'm just looking at things from a business standpoint.

Inflation, Hagler/Ray made a ****ton, so did the rest of the bouts.

Maybe not as much but it was a HUGE amount.

    Felix/ODLH did a lot too.

    Lewis/Tyson was huge.

For that time, their purses were massive.

Of course they made a ton of money, but a quarter of a billion dollars? Hell no. Remember, May/Pac was the biggest fight in boxing history...by a landslide. Even if 50% less people bought the fight, they'd still set the #2 record right behind their first fight. That's how much crazy money these guys can generate.

    Sure, no one disputes that.

But they still made a large amount and a rematch for each of those bouts would have made just as much as they made in fight #1.

They had every reason to do it monetarily, but it never happened.

I can see Floyd not giving Pac the rematch, keeping that 1-0 forever.

Similar to what Ray did to Hagler, created huge roadblocks when Hagler pleaded for the rematch. Hagler got so fed up and retired for good.

But in this case, Floyd will probably retire first.

    Same thing could happen.

Well we know none of them made us much as Floyd/Pac or else May 2nd wouldn't have made the most money in boxing history.

But you're :nut if you think well past their best versions of Tyson, Lennox, SRL, and Hagler weren't making those fights in large part for the $$$$. Hagler/SRL was by far the richest non HW fight in boxing history at the time and Tyson/Lennox was the richest fight in boxing history at the time period.

    Yup.

Money is not something one should depend on in hopes for a potential rematch for a superfight.

Usually, the fights do not happen a second time.

Sometimes they do, most of the times, THEY DO NOT.

Rematch will be a much better fight. Not saying Pac wins, but I think he will make it a lot more competitive. He was at an all time low (not saying it's a coincidence, Floyd did that to him), but I think now that he has faced PBF once and has nothing to lose he will let his hands go and be himself. Floyd will still counter him, but it will be much more exciting to watch.

    Are you kidding?

If there's something on this Earth that I'm sure about, it's that he's Calzaghe's biggest fanboy, he probably likes Calzaghe more than Enzo, and that may be an understatement. :patsch

NOT falling for THIS again. :yep

IF a rematch happens, I bet this is one of the ways in which they try to sell this fight to the public. :deal
