I dont agree that usyk takes rounds to work someone out. It looks like that...but his gameplan is to get the opponent working from the off. As long as the opponents working harder than they probably should be they dont mind losing or sharing the round. They know they,ll get to them eventually. Exactly what happened with bellew. Think it was close on the cards...but the reality was usyks just banking rounds till the opponents gas tank goes. Not many can keep it up without struggling badly as the fight goes on. Not quite the same as mayweather who was working people out them first couple of rounds.
Haye was a good fighter, I don't doubt he could cause Usyk some issues early on.. With the being said after some difficult early goings, Usyk quickly adapts, and begins to outbox and outwork Haye, who's negative tendencies as a fighter wouldn't do him any favors as he starts to fall behind. Usyk UD.
Apart from power and perhaps hand speed, both of which Usyk could negate, I don't see any advantages for Haye.
This aint prime Usyk. Usyk at his prime have way more speed and feet quickness. His pace was also a lot, lot higher. No chance for Haye at that pace level. This content is protected This content is protected
It is even more specific than that...he is a southpaw boxer, and takes a couple of rounds to time his opponents jab so that he can get his jab over it. He probably watched so much of Joshua over the years that he didn't have to.
Usyk wins in dominating fashion. All Haye had was a decent punch, certainly no better than Gassiev, Breidis,Bellew, Hunter. Plus, Haye had a suspect mandible. I think Usyk stops him.
I actually think Usyk would beat Haye, but I think it'd be competitive in the early rounds until Usyk took control by the mid/late rounds. Usyk has definitely surpassed everything Haye has done, but don't think Usyk has fought anyone as good as Haye. Haye's speed and power make him difficult for any fighter, and he had good head movement and foot speed as well. Usyk would just be a lot more elusive than anyone Haye has fought either and he wouldn't be able to establish that jab. Usyk would time Haye and outpoint him down the stretch of the fight.
End thread indeed. But to add even more insult to injury, remember Mock had Haye out on his feet again right before he got stopped. Mock was going to the kill after putting David on genderqueer street again, and made mistake of walking into an uppercut. He got up, he was a teensy bit wobbly but not that bad off. The ref waved it off way too early like ridiculously early, Haye was in far worse shape than Mock.
At cw haye had the hayemaker, but thats it. If USYK can take hayes best punch he gets outboxed and would lose a comftorable UD.
Agreed, I'm not even sure that Haye would beat any of who Usyk faced in his WBSS path. Huck maybe? Breidis is too hard and good for Haye, and he has a great beard. Breidis late KO. Gassiev I'd probably favour too as Haye is much more cautious, and wouyld give Gassiev time to set that Usyk never did.
Haye would have struggled to get any decent wins if he stayed there till 2012. Lebedev Jones Huck Cunningham All killers.
