Usyk is absolutely an all time great. I still think that Crawford and Inoue are better boxers than him All 3 are all time greats
2 times Undisputed in 2 different weight classes while remaining Undefeated (on foreign land everytime) ... sounds like All Time Great to me! This content is protected
Agreed! Fury is an exceptional fighter. He just got whooped, twice, by a more exceptionaler fighter in Usyk. That's right. I said exceptionaler.
When he was truly viable Ali only had 2 losses, both coming after 3 years exile. Speaking of damaged goods, Ali was exactly that for Spinks, Holmes and Bernice (Edit: Lol, supposed to be Berbick but I think I’ll leave the orig. typo). Ali also spent a lot longer at HW than Olek against better competition imo and fighting more often. Frazier for one would be a very tough match up for Olek. I would say that the left hook that put Ali down in the FOTC would’ve certainly dropped Usyk also. Especially after the extremely brutal 14 rounds fought prior to - and it was just Ali’s 3rd fight since his return.
Almost a lock for GOAT at Cruiserweight, definitely not GOAT at heavyweight, but somewhere in the top 20 there for sure.. (I mean, his biggest fans generally even talk down on his best opponents at heavyweight - no way he’s the GOAT there…) He’s probably higher head to head than he is overall, especially considering he’s still bigger than many ATG heavyweights despite him being “smaller” today, on top of his superb skill set and being a southpaw.
Ali has a much stronger resume. It can be argued that both Fury and Joshua were past there best and Dubois is overrated at the moment IMO.
100%. There's HOFs, ATGs and there's the GOAT. Usyk is 100% an ATG in the long and rich history of the sport. He's not a GOAT contender though. Boxing, as both an industry and a 'sport' has regressed over time, for several reasons that any good boxing scholar can point out. I'm not one of those clowns who put random 80 - 15 - 15 welterweights over Floyd, but neither do I put Usyk in the same bracket as an Ali or Robinson. What he's achieved in the modern era, considering modern-era-problems (prolonged amateur careers, relative inactivity, debatably more industry favouritism at the absolute highest level etc.) is incredible. Well done Alexander the Very Good
I honestly connect Ali and Usyk in my mind. Same height, same reach, same birthday, same way of confusing opponents, same excellence. Yes, that post from Hassan makes some points, but victories over ListonX2, FrazierX2, Foreman, NortonX2, PattersonX2, Moore, Shavers, Lyle, Quarry, Terrell, Mathis, etc. mean a hell of a lot. Ali's third string would be a good title reign for most champs. Just two great, great fighters.
