You know what - as I'm thinking about it - the ref only allows belt line shots when the navel cannot be seen. Usyk's navel is plainly visible, so you are right - thank you for the correction. Maybe my eyes are getting old, I could've sworn it was not visible.

Again, thanks for the correction, much appreciated.

Looks low but doesnt look like a punch to the balls. The way he reacted was of a guy that been hit in the nuts

I take back what I said before, it was no doubt a low blow. The reason I thought it wasn't, was because I thought Usyk's navel was not visible. Maybe I need new glasses lol.

The rules are, if the navel is not visible, the belt line is legal.

How can there be any controversy over this?

There is zero doubt that the punch was below the navel. Period.

How can anyone say otherwise? It's plain as day.

Never before have I heard the shoes of boxers squeak through an entire round due to rain. Some people may not understand how big a deal this is. It completely changes the styles and game plans of each fighter. Comparatively, Usyk is majorly hampered by a wet ring because of his style. If that happened in the Chisora fight, Usyk very well could have lost. This is a dream for a plodding pressure fighter and a nightmare for a footwork based boxer. I cannot believe they hung a tarp over the ring that was the same size as the ring and called it good. This was Usyk's own show and the ring setup almost cost him everything.

Malignaggi thought this was a bigger controversy than the low blow ruling.

It's almost 100% the same shot AJ landed on Usyk, and Usyk goes down as well.

My question here, not to you Levook, but to others is, why there wasn't multiple thread that AJ was robbed there?

Warren filled appeal, so at the end of the day we will know. As WBA will rule out was it a lowblow or it wasn't.

Are we talking about the Anderson fight? Did Pabon gave instructions?

It is very desperate to show another fight's referee and his instructions disregarding the fact the navels of the fighters are visible at that moment, so there is a reason to say hitting the belt is a foul. But shorts aren't fixed, they go up and down - when up, do you still think hitting the belt is a foul again? So lame...

What proves Pabon is bad referee is that the WBA rules require him to give the instructions about the waistline when they are on the ring. "But... but... Krassyuk ssid he gave them in the dressing room." Well, the rules are rules. And Krassyuk isn't very smart either.

Pabon said nothing about the shorts being high. He called the same punch low against Joshua, so his interpretation is consistent.

The punch is similar, but is it the same? Or are the two low or Pabon sucks? So Pabon is consistent in his support for Usyk who complains of low blows every few fights when he's hurt to the body. But it is exactly that - Pabon said nothing about the shorts, while he should have, according to the rules.

A wet ring increases the risk of injury and at least intuitively seemed to favor Dubois. It's hard for me to understand how this didn't get more traction with the press and pundits.

That manager of Usyk is the most annoying guy in boxing.

Usyk wears his shorts from low to normal height. Navel just behind the top of the waistband and any shot which strays even a little bit low will be below the navel and that shot from Dubois was low and a large enough percentage of the bottom part of the glove ie. where the knuckles are, large enough for it to be deemed low, was below the bottom part of the waistband.

    Dubois' shorts are much higher

I think it's a strategy by some corners to drench the canvas to increase the chances of slipping/injury. Of course, their guy has to spend time/effort moving the guy to the corner and then avoiding the patch of wet ring as well.
