Nah not exactly . It was a bit low and he is entitled but I don’t think it was that harsh of a shot. Definitely not like golota level . I think he played it up a little can’t lie . I would probably have done the same as would almost everybody else

I concur with this assessment. It was a low blow. THAT’S ABSOLUTELY IRREFUTABLE! The rules are the rules! The official result is the official result. Usyk KO9.

I will say though… Usyk was clearly telling the ref to let him continue fighting. Almost arguing with him. So I don’t think Oleksandr was “Playing it up” at all. I think he saw that delay as dubois benefiting from getting a breather and getting his confidence back listening to his low IQ corner yelling “It was LEGAL!!”

Anyway… Usyk KO9 AND THAT’S THE BOTTOM LINE!!!

Irrelevant. Jirov's blows do not change the rules or Pabon's right to interpetation.

I never said it did ? did you miss when i said "It's the referee's decision and he had to make a decision in real time without replays and his decision is final"

It doesn't mean we can't debate it though ? all i'm saying is it's a debatable subject and the belt line can be deemed as fair game.

The Cobra lays it all out in this video. I've only watched the first six minutes so far, but he goes over a lot by then.

    * Dubois did throw a low blow

    * Dubois should have been more aggressive trying to finish Usyk in Round 5

    * Usyk is in a different class than Dubois (at least last night)

I think he was milking the advantage too. After the initial reaction which was real. But who are we to say. He gets his rest as he's entitled.

I think most heavyweights would go down from that shot in that area.

Dubois is a big puncher and that landed with full force.

Here's a link to the official scorecards through Round 8:
    https://postimg.cc/f3ZQyYyv

Judge 1 --> 79-72 Usyk (7-1 rounds Usyk; gave Dubois the 5th round)
Judge 2 --> 79-72 Usyk (7-1 rounds Usyk; gave Dubois the 4th round)
    Judge 3 --> 78-72 Usyk (6-2 rounds Usyk; gave Dubois 2nd, 4th rounds)

Some people have said that Dubois "quit" in the 9th round. Maybe. But he was hopelessly behind on the scorecards and had done nothing in the fight to affect Usyk except the low blow. And he was dead tired.

Dubois lasted longer against Joyce (Round 10). His left eye was completely shut. In that fight, Dubois led on 2 scorecards when the bout was halted.

It would make sense he would take more punishment against Joyce. He had a chance to win that fight, unlike the match with Usyk.

Dubois seemed dejected immediately after the fight, which would be why Usyk was trying to pump him up in Dubois' corner.

I think the ref like most refs feel some kind of pressure to favor the guy with the bigger financial backing.

Distasteful reaction from so many people who throw tantrum because of their frustration with political situation regarding Ukraine.

Unless you think Usyks belt is a good 4"+ above the actual beltline (ie: navel) and/or that the actual contact patch of that punch is tiny (and of course boxing gloves are famously lacking in padding )...
Then yes, part of the punch would need to hit skin for it to all be on-and-above the beltline, with none of the punch below.

This is the problem here, realistically Usyks belt is at absolute most about 1-1/2" above the navel and quite possibly less, they're really not high... and the punch lands below the top of his belt, so unless the punch only impacts a contact patch less than 1-1/2" tall (don't be ridiculous!), then part of that impact is DEFINITELY below where the beltline should be and that makes it illegal.

It might be closer than you've gotten used to seeing given, but the fact that the refereeing wasn't as lax as usual is a good thing and in no way undermines the correctness of the decision, IMHO.

Yes, it's fairly close, but part of that initial contact is definitely below the belt, it's a foul.

Why do you focus on this view that obviously doesn’t show what you think it does, as evidenced by the other view that shows pretty clearly that your interpretation is incorrect? These pictures “look like” what you think, but the other angle shows what actually happened. That punch at worst is borderline…at worst.

So, you're not a Usyk fan anymore. Because you don't think it was a low blow? Your post is confusing.
