Can someone confirm Usyk lost to Shawn Porter in the amateurs? Is this a lie?

Usyk was in another weight class than Porter. Porter would have no chance against Usyk. Usyk would out box Wilder easily easier than he out boxed Joyce who is 6 feet 6 inches tall and weighs over 250lbs. Usyk made Joyce look like a fool!!!!!!! Gassiev is too strong for Wilder, his chin is too tough, he hits too hard, Wilder is easy pickin's for any good fighter....................

Gassiev has an easier fight with AJ and Usyk has more chances vs. Wilder.

I'd be dangerous for Gas to cut down Wild cause of those odd angles & unpredictability, Deo is willing to go Wilder when cornered. Cutting down on Joshua with proper angles works however, it makes AJ gun shy & forced to fight at a closer distance he likes or experienced, thus getting times badly. Gassiev sparks AJ out more than once in a trilogy.

Usyk is the better adaptive reactive fighter with proper reach, output and defense if he cares about it, and making it a boxing match instead of a fight would benefit him. As awkward as Wild is with a danger punch, he still makes defensive mistakes & Usyk could play it safe over 12, tag him on this D-holes for the scorecards. Can he avoid Wilder if he feels the urgency to step to him tho? Dunno, perhaps not.

    I agree.

Even though I think Usyk will beat Gassiev easily, (Usyk is FAR more skilled) I think Wilder beats Usyk easily, but would have a very tough time with Gassiev.

Styles make fights. (I read that somewhere.)
Wilder sometimes has trouble with really tough guys that come forward & drive him back. That's Gassiev, and Gassiev has the 1-punch power to maybe land a winning shot. Usyk does not.

Usyk will be a fascinating & entertaining addition to the HW division, but I don't see him ever becoming a champion.
Well, maybe the WBO belt, or something just as silly.......

Can somebody explain why these cruiser weights are fighting at cruiser weight for peanuts when they would both easily beat wilder and AJ?

Honestly it's best to clean cruiser out while they can, to gain experience (esp. Gassiev) and cement their legacy before moving up. Plus they are getting paid decently due to the WBSS.

And of course they don't win easily, I guess that was your main point. I give both a pretty decent chance but they are difficult fights. Anyone has to stay clear of Wilder's right hand and when Joshua turns it up there's not many who can hang with him. Gassiev has the power IMHO to take it to Wilder / AJ but for Usyk it's a bit like walking a tightrope for 12 rounds.

Firstly, it's incredibly hard to get to the titles at HW with the powers to be sitting on them, whereas these two, more natural CWs than HWs anyway, can earn a good buck while picking up the same legit titles at 200 lbs, without waiting years for a chance that may never come cause they are too dangerous.

Also, both expressed early enough CW is just to make a name for themselves before going 200lbs+, and since WBSS came up with handsome payments and worldwide coverage (except for US, and the WBSS effed that up), that's exactly the event to skyrocket the winner (and possibly the loser) to HW.

And make no mistake: Gassiev and Usyk are looking to earn more at the WBSS final than anyone at HW not involved in a world title fight. And they'll unify the 4 belts making history doing so.

Many people like to say stuff this, and I don’t think Wilder is a very skilled fighter or anything...

But let’s see these cruiserweights take one of those bombs, not to mention dealing with his height....

Heart and power are two intangibles that can keep a fighter in any fight, and Deontay has those in spades.

If you can explain why Wilder is fighting for peanuts in Alabama when he could easily make multi millions in the UK.

What are you talking about? They are negotiating fighting AJ in the uk, wilder has accepted their offer to fight in the uk.

Usyk and Gassiev are both still fighting at CW because they're contracted to do so until the WBSS final is over.

After that your criticism can become valid.

It wasn't criticism it was a genuine question which KiwiMan and BigBone managed to answer without taking offense. I genuinely look forward to seeing them both campaigning at HW after the WBSS is over.

Gassiev may face a points deduction or even disqualification if he tears Wilder's head off. He should probably formulate an alternative strategy.
