The man to beat Anthony Joshua AND Tyson Fury? | Oleksandr Usyk: Undisputed | Full documentary About 21:07 (21 minutes and 7 seconds in) Usyk is asked what strengths Joshua has. His reply is that Joshua is very well trained but nothing out of the ordinary. I have to agree. Joshua has solid skills, a good jab, excellent power and good combination punching for his size. But aside from his excellent power, he isn't extraordinary in anything. This doesn't mean that he isn't a world class heavyweight because he is. This doesn't mean he wouldn't be a legit top 10 or even top 5 in most eras. A man with that kind of size and power would destroy many heavies based on his size and power alone, especially if those heavies were the size of Quarry. But yes, apart from that, his skill level is good. He isn't Larry Holmes when it comes to outboxing people, he isn't Evander Holyfield or someone like that.
He has admired stamina problems, he picks the wrong strategy, and he developed mental issues. He is still a two-time unified champ. I think your assessment is about right.
I saw that clip. To be honest kinda the mentality of a fighter having confidence in themselves but Uysk proved it as we know.
Of course he isn't as skilled as Holmes or Holy. No man his size is, but I think he's an excellent blend of size, power and skill. He lacks that composure and championshiop pedigree, though. Give him Salvador Sanchez chin and composure and he might have been unbeaten still.
