On April 3, the WBA ordered Usyk and Dubois to begin negotiations. They gave them until May 2 (Tuesday) to come up with an agreement, before the fight goes to purse bids.

Usyk's promoter is now in talks with Poland's leading fight promoter hoping to stage the fight there. Apparently, Warren and Krassyuk aren't interested in footing the bill themselves for a fight nobody is really interested in. (Warren already said it wouldn't make any money.)

No date or agreement has been reached as of now.

If this thing dies on the vine, Usyk-Wilder in December, like Fury-Joshua, could be a mandatory defense.

Poor Dubois, he will fold by pressure in Poland.

Usyk always fights in the other guy's home town, so Dubois must be Polish.

Poland will at least draw a big crowd. Otherwise Nobody is really interested in seeing it though except hard core fans.

How big of a potential money loser is this if the two promoters of the fighters involved don't want to promote it themselves?

(Cue up the 1970s Polish jokes.)

Well, damn! Usyk may not be a big draw, but he is the unified Heavyweight champion of the world. Can he get some respect for fighting the top man, Anthony Joshua?
He beat him twice and he can't get a better venue than Poland? No respect for the champion unless he has a base to sell to, I guess.

If it goes up for purse bids, who high does Don King have to bid to win it? ;)

$2 million? Or is that too much? Because Warren and Krassyuk don't want to pay for it, either.

The winning purse bid for Charr-Oquendo was $600,000 (and it never came off). The second highest bid for that fight was $100,000, by Charr's promoter.

These WBA purse bids are always a mess.

    Poland, wtf?
Gotta hand it to Usyk's promoter, that guy is always saying weird stuff. It's not going to be in Poland but if it somehow did, that's basically Usyk friendly territory and most if not all will be there for him. First time in a while that he could get a "home" field treatment which hopefully doesn't throw him off mentally since he's so used to being the foreign underdog.

Tell that to his promoter. Why isn't Krassyuk inking this and promoting it himself in some grand arena?

"If this thing dies on the vine, Usyk-Wilder in December" - having so many belts with one defense in 14 months so far - what kind of champion is this one? Crying to be stripped. He has other mandatory before December.

Poland is kind of neutral (or not) place, so aside from the lower income they'll get, why not?

The WBA mandatory comes first. But I don't know what's going to happen. It is odd that the two promoters of the guys in this heavyweight title fight, and Warren is one of the big ones, are shopping the fight to other promoters.

How long do the other orgs wait for this nonsense to wrap up?

How do you sell Usyk-Dubois to another promoter when it's clear you aren't promoting it because you don't want to lose your own money?

Krassyuk loves to say that Usyk's team is easy to deal with, but the reason is they accept everything because they are not that good managers - you sell your fighter, a world champion and unified cruiser to somebody else and you claim you're a good manager? It is weird, indeed, but raises questions and also some in regards to what really happened during the Fury-Usyk negotiations...

I hope the fight gets done, Usyk is not about the money, we all know that, right, he easily schools aliens, so facing his mandatory is the best he can do, especially for his sad activity and poor heavyweight record, while pretending to be the best in the division (based only on belts, while it's well known that you're the best when you fight more top level people and win against most, if not all of them). Sorry, fans, but be objective, it won't stop from liking him.
