No he's 100% right to defend his title rather than make a stoll pigeon 'the champ'.

All big Ukrainian sports take place in Poland since the war. Many champions league soccer games have been played this way.

    Do I understand that:
    1. You're "racist" against pigeons?
    2. You admit Usyk will most likely lose to Wilder?

Wilder is not very good. But he does have a punchers chance against anybody. Including Joe Fraizer.

It's funny how people add a year or two to a fighter's age when they want to prove that they are getting older. If someone is 35, they'll say he's 36 next year or he's 37.

I'm gonna start doing that to fighters I'm not fond of. When he's 25, I'll say, they'll be 40 in 15 years and they are getting old.
Usyk is kind of wasting time though, this fight is on pace to take place July/August and he may not fight in the fall/winter. They should've had a plan B so he got his 2 fights this year with good spacing between and not affecting his winter religious observance.

Usyk had to fight AJ twice and AJ lite to get his shot at Fury

The WBA suck but Usyk doesn’t really help his own case with his level of inactivity which is bad even by modern day standards. He’s fought once a year since 2019.

Witherspoon - Chisora - Joshua - Joshua, in 4 years.

And he’s shown no indication that he wants to up his activity this year either.

He had the chance to fight again in 2022 after winning the Joshua rematch but he turned it down to spend time with his family. Also, when you’re a 3-belt champion, you’re going to have to face mandatories.

I agree. No one can't deny he won plenty of fights he was losing on points with his terrific punch, including few southpaws, so it's understandable if Usyk avoids him. From all the fighters Wilder faced, true, plenty of bags and second class, only two made the distance with him - Stiverne who however get KOed in one round the second fight and Fury who not only went through all Wilder's power, but beat him badly. So even if a bit overrated, his power is not to be underrated. The puncher's chance is always a thing to be respected and in case Wilder and Usyk ever face and Wilder wins, it'll be a fair victory. I am just imaging some of the comments in this scenario.

Not really his fault. His career intersected with Joshua who is deliberately inactive.

2023 Fury messes up negotiations, but Usyk moved onto Dubois straight away.
2022 Timing of rematch is set by Joshua
2021 He is getting messed about again by Joshua and the WBO with his mandatory fight pushed back again and again.
2020 He fought Chisora post COVID lock downs
2019 He fought Witherspoon after being out with injury.
    2018 He fought 3 times

Oh and there was the Ukraine war...

Nobody claims wilder would outbox usyk and win on points. I,m sure he would not even try. But the risk wilder windmills usyk to death is so real that usyk clearly tries to avoid wilder.

Usyk was clear that the only reason he came up to Heavyweight was to become undisputed. Wilder has nothing to offer, he is an irrelevance.

The undisputed fight is dead. Fury killed it. Usyk is too old to be fighting silly mandatories and especially given how inactive he is.

He should drop the belt and fight Wilder and make $$$ to do so. It’s a huge fight and he will get that much richer.

It's also worth nothing that he attempted to fight early in the year every one of those instances. He was gonna fight Takam in May, then had a bicep tear that caused him to pull out a couple of weeks before it happened. He was gonna fight Chisora in May of 2020, but COVID screwed that just like it screwed up so many other things. He was working on a fight with Joe Joyce in 2021 but then when the Fury-AJ fight fell through he took the opportunity to fight AJ. Then he wanted to get the AJ rematch over in early 2022 but the Ukraine war happened.

I hate that Usyk has only fought four times since moving up to heavyweight too, the guy is one of my favorite fighters and I'd love to see him more active, but it's not like the inactivity is by design. I'm sure he wishes he could've fought more too, dude's just had unfortunate circumstances outside the ring. Just like I say with the Zhang-Forrest fight, on paper it looks bad, sure, but the context frames it in a different light.

I'm hopeful that he'll fight Dubois in July and then follow it up with something at the end of the year. Whether it be another mandatory, fighting Fury or even a fight with someone like Wilder, I don't really care at this point, I just wanna see him fight.
